Juice box build up
Well no harm done exept my pride.
Just wasn't driving very well got a tire hooked up on a ledge as I came round a corner. In stead of backing out I tried creep it off as the front passanger tire came down it just keeped falling till I was over.
I can only blame myself for crap driving.
It is repairable but I have always wanted to go softtop so this might be the shove I need

Some pic's were taken but i'm still waiting for ppl to put them up.
Not happy with a few things. I think the springs may be a little to soft as it feels like driving a slinky. I will put some helpers in the rear when I can be bothered and with a bit of luck lose some weight going to soft top like tim hardys or flat bed bazook style.
Another prob is that the front spring perchers are to far forward making the diff move back instead of forward. The shackles are just trying to invert every time I come to a rock and makes the car start bunny hopping.
Also at this stage i'm not that keen on the width of the tire (it's winter and mostly mud)
Really need lockers to get any where.....which I can't afford

narh you dont need locker yet ya gotta get everything else right first
dont worry about the body till the rest of it works, just incase it happens again (i hope not)
what pressures were you running? were they to tight?
scott was running 5 psi in the quarry, yours being bigger could probably go lower.
i didnt think that your tyres wre the problem
move the front shackle mount back and maybe a rear track bar, that should stop the bunnyhops
just my 2c worth

id say it would be axel rap that is makin your rig bounce
but a track bar will not always fix it
how far did umove your front mount forward? same as the melb dudes?
Yeah it was only 100mm. The only thing I can think of is that theirs are flater then might. The other thing is that I don't need as much lift so I can afford to put the shackle on an forward angle. So in theory will give me a bit more droop and will push the diff forward when approaching rocks.
May still look into shackle reverse.
Was planning on stiffening the rear so a track bar can wait till I have tested that set up.
What do you guys think of the front virtural lift?

cant really see the virtual lift
u moved it 100mm with extended shackles no wonder its tryin to invert all the time
sounds like bout 50mm to much the rear springs are only like 3 inches longer arnt they? so u moved it 4 inch
Thats the advice I recieved and i didn't question it
No pro I will move it back...I may even cut it off and start again.
If I went shackle reverse do i have to lower the front mount?

id leave it up high to get the best approach but try to keep the rear mount up high to..
and just fix your castor with wedges..
stumped wrote:bummer dude!!! glad ya came out alright tho!!
do ya have any before/after/progress pics of the virtual lift? i keep hearing 'bout it, but got no idea what ppl are talkin 'bout....
Yeah shane (heep97tj) got some pics waiting for him to post. Was really easy after I got working. Lots of grinding, welding, tex screws and some pop rivits just for fun.
For pics have a look at nam's second zook in the members section really helped mine

pm to stumped re: virtural lift wrote:Okay well it's really easy for just an inch or so but gets more envolved if you want the full two inchs.
Remove flare including bracket
lift bracket and and flare so that you can still fit the indicator.
pop rivit bracket in temp new location (note I lifted the rear to the first body line aboove the sill)
you should now have about an inch of outer panel in the wheel well.
I then bashed flywall a bit
Now cut the lip off the outer panal and cut the inner guard off the outer, should remove enough so that you can snipe the outer panal and fold back up the inner guard.
snipe bend in with pliers then bash flat with hammer.
Moving to the font I need room behind the head light so;
I cut down from the inner bracket to the light bracket then across the the outside panel. I then trimed a bit off the now flappiong peice. I then pushed this up and tack welded higher up on the headlight bracket.
Then just fill with bog and paint and anthing else you want to do. I also trimed the very front corner a bit
I just put more rivits into the bracket, but if you don't like that idea just weld on.
Hope this helps

Sorry to here mate, get back on the horse!!!!
The virtual lift looks sweet too.
The main reason I started with a new vehicle was I wanted a different suspension setup, given the fact that yours is pretty well on the way i'd go for the body swap.
Looking at that upside down shot of your shackles the mount looks further forward then min i'll measure mine tomorrow and check.
You can't beat soft tops, best decision I ever made was scrapping the ute and doing a softie.
Chin up

Well I have always said chicks dig body damage so i'm pretty over the dented panels.
But I still want a soft top for lower COG.
Been looking around this arvo and i'm finding plenty of inspiration
