Did some for mine but found that they flattened the spring a shitload. (not shaw if thats good or bad)

gave easy cheap ass lift. i just did some simple trigonometry for the rears. Also had to get some high tensile bolts cause the rear shackle bolts were welded to the shackle.

prob was that i made up my shackles then i caught the "Lift bug" and now spoa.

so in conclusion do a spring over

The rears are.
the fronts arent. Dont like the fronts off the yellow one. Dont have a brace in the middle.

10 inch long, thats about 6 inch longer than std. Thats huge!!
theres heaps better ways of getting lift than that amount in the shackles... The longer the shackles the weaker they are....

extended shackles

Post by DR Frankenstine »

There is no point extending shackles unless you move the mounting point on the chassis as well because the spring will flatten well before the shackle runs out of potential travel up. what you need to do if you have a 250mm shackle is
1.measure the spring flattened
2. take off 250mm
3. add 15mm
4. Thats how far the spring eye and shackle mount eye should be appart.
5. you will then have a extended shackle that works otherwise you are wasting your time appart from getting lift. dont forget to fit longer travel shocks.

Also due to the fact that the front spring mounts are so weak on the MQ chassis I wouldn't be going much past 2" over std without beefing them up. One of mine snapped about 200kms from home and no welding sticks in sight :x

some pics of my shackles.
The first 2 are of the rears. They are about 2 inch longer than std, NON greasable.
The fronts are still on my rig and are also about 2 inch longer and are not greasable.
I have a set if greasable shackles that are this length for the front as well, but am not happy with them as i dont believe they are strong enough without re-inforcing.

Fark your rear springs have a nice arch to em  , or did you have the back jacked up???
Did you make those shackles??? the look like they would have been made in some sort of one hit press? maybe i'll just have to buy some as the offset is big

Thats sitting at std hieght. They dont flex much and are lifted. There coming out and a new set with only 2 leaves running are gonna be in there insted, they will be flat as.

I didnt make either, but i could make the fronts easy as crap, the rears are a litte harder but i could make em.
They have been made in 2 peices with holes drilled and then the bolts have been put through one side and welded on one side. The other plate just slides over and the nut goes on after that.

flex

Your right screwy
high arch springs dont flex!! The flatter you can get your spring the better. the only problem you have then is controling them :D
