was just cruisin thru an old thread in the zook section that's resurfaced, and our yank friend was mouthing off in there back in jan 'bout the roza bein better than zooks, kickin butt, that kinda stuff. now i'll admit the roza will woop my butt on road, trails, and prolly beach, but old mate was being suggestive of "hardcore"

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modules/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4129&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=90

now i had a quick search, and couldn't find any threads with hardcore rozas (or rocky's etc).. just wondering if anyone's got some good pics?

(not REALLY trying to stir up trouble, just SimplyPV ;) dude, do u honestly think ur roza/rocky is gonna out-drive even a mildly modded zook???? :D )

One of my mates has a stock Sierra hardtop, and his vehicle look like its going onto its roof by just going over a speed bump.

If its standard V's standard, the Widetrack Feroza will get alot more out of control before truly being OUT OF CONTROL. The Zook just looks unstable, too thin and top heavy. If modified, I reckon they would be quite close, I saw an article on a Jimny that was hotted up, and it would go anywhere a Feroza could. For my preference, I like the Feroza, good looks, underpowered but good offroad achiever. End of the day, it's up to the driver, if you know ur car, you can get it almost anywhere. your accessories can be a big advantage too, just changing your tires will get you up bigger nastier hills.

You also have to look at the after market parts that are available for each of the vehicle.
For Suzuki’s the list is almost endless…….Diff locks, Rockcrawler gears, different diff ratios, suspension components. Etc etc etc…….
Ya cant even get a bloody snorkel off the shelf for a Feroza let alone a diff lock.
So if you gunna build a hard core 4b u would obviously go with a zook. So theres gunna be many more hard core zooks than Ferozas about.
Having said that I think that the roza is a better vehicle when it is standard or mildly modded. ie slight lift and decent tyres (I had better say that cause I own one :D ). I also think it is a stronger more powerful beast :finger:

u talking 'bout on or off-road dude? be interesting to compare a dead standard zook to a roza, not convinced that a roza will out-drive it... zook is lighter, and has advantage of live front axle. better clearance and approach/departure angles too i think. be an interesting comparo.

even mild mods tho, zook will out-drive roza... and still cost less than the buy-price of a roza ;)

Hey steve, perhaps it would be a better comparisom to look at a Vitara and a Feroza...

But I reckon a stocker feroza would outdrive a stocko zuk....

Thats just my biased and un based opinion...

definately more scope for build in a zook. definately less powerful tho, but that only matters onroad... cept for the zook carby, which is crap. mild mods tho? mine's mild.. small lift, bodylift, and 31s, and drove slippery rock in the watagans when none of the roza's tried it

baaahh.. i'm not bagging rozas, just wanted to have a go at PV ;) that and i wanted to see some pics... besty's roza is a bit of a beast

Just cos of the size and power differences, as well as the relative levels of articilation in the stock zook form compared to ferozas IFS and standard tyres...

I also have a feeling that the better build quality on the Feroza might give it an advantage.

And also because I went wheeling with my mates when mine was stock and I outdrove a mate in a JLX Vitara and another with a stock zook. I will give it to them that neither were very adventurous.

ok stumped.... here goes...

from my experiences in the mud and out on the sand dunes, i've seen that zooks are ALOT more tippy than a roza, and thats been proven on here by pics and experiences as well.... as for the sand dunes, i seriously wish i had gotten pics since i had done some SERIOUS damage... lol.. anyways, there were 2 zooks there that were egging me on to drive up a seriously steep, loose sand hill. this is was rather funny since both zooks couldnt make it all the way up. one zook made it up around 3/4 of the way, the other zook could only reach half way. with the roza's capabilties to rev high and maintain that rev, i climbed all the way up the hill on my second try... 1 zook was bone stock, the other had 31's and a lift... not sure how much though, maybe 3? i know i had my 235/75/R15 muddies and 2 inch lift. that was all i had at the time. just totally owned the zooks... then when we hit the mud, zooks did slightly better, the modded zook was able to keep up with me, but he was just still too tipsy, nearly rolled once on a embankment that we were climbing. true, they are more narrowier.... but they tip over way too easy until they get some wider axles under em. then they're pretty brute.... but until then, i just laugh... and i know that the zook gearing isnt all that great.... roza's alright.. until you stick her in 4low.... man that 4low really gives out some torque... like i said stumped.. personal experience....

btw.. you missed with the glove.... :D :finger:

Stumpy
You shouldn't go comparing apples to oranges. Are you overcompensating for something you lack?
A mildly modded Feroza would go the same places you can so you're not better because you drive a zooky. Just because everytime you go out for a drive you lose control of your boxy pitchy rusty tinny crapbox seirra when the wind picks up is no reason to have a go at Daihatsu owner.
Every vehicle has it's limitations and I would suggest the seirra is limited to being driven by morons who think they are better because it cost less for the experience but still wouldn't have a pot to !@$# in.

overcompensating? dude, i'm not goin there... was simply talkin 'bout 4bys. seems maybe ur a lil too defensive ;)

never claimed i was better cos i drive a zook  not REALLY having a go at a daihatsu owner, just stirring PV up a bit, cos he was having a go in our forum :D

i never attacked roza drivers, now ur makin it personal by dissin zook drivers. tempted as i am, i'm not gonna diss roza drivers, cos most of them are cool, and i got a few mates that drive/drove them (that and there's too many of you, and i don't wanna be lynched :D ). you sir, however, are an asshat

damn.. i gotta get better with that glove

will give it to the rozas, they've got a truckload more power than the zook, but the old 1.3's pretty torquey for what it is, and with the light weight of the zook, it goes alright.

dunes n stuff, yeah, roza should out-drive a zook i think. dunno 'bout mud, never had any trouble with mine, floats right over it. i reckon tyres makes more difference than anything else in mud tho.

were ur mates driving widetrack or narrowtrack zooks? NTs are pretty tippy, WTs aren't too bad, can go on some awesome angles before they actually roll. with some offset rims my zook's almost as wide as a guy i know with hilux diffs underneath.

gearing...? chuck a rockhopper in and we've got it all over the roza. but yeah, stock with 31s sucks pretty badly.

but how 'bout rocks, big ruts, ledges, stuff that's closer to "hardcore"? haven't seen a roza drive that kinda stuff, so can't really comment, but that's where it's at

Why dont we throw some more competitors in, both my zook and my rocky, both modified, and some people here have seen em go. What do ya rekon bout it, i KNOW the rocky will eat the roza, but i know for a fact that my zook is better off-road than the rocky, so come to your own conclusion there.

stumped... i'll be honest with you, as much as i love my roza, if i had the money, i'd go buy me a zook personally.. why? so i could go drive it super hardcore and not have to worry about breaking anything and paying up the kazoo to get it fixed and back on the road.. thats my personal downfall with my roza... parts are $$ and hard to find... so thats what really keeps me at bay from finding out the true limits of my roza.... zook parts are hella cheap and they are everywhere. well if you look at purchase prices... the u.s. rocky goes for pretty cheap considering the fact that they are never modded because people dont know about them and dont think they are capable of anything, much less even heard of em.... BUT if you look at prices of parts.... thats where the costs of having a rocky vs a zook is completely offset... just to give you an idea..... here in the states, i paid $56 for ONE timing belt....a zook or chevy timing belt can go for as little as 15 bucks.... spark plug wires? $163........ dizzy cap? lets try around $65...... what else? oh yeah... driver side window.... $156........ pass. side rear window.... $200..... a parts truck that's been stripped down ALOT... $800.... which i over paid on.. but still got my $$'s worth out of it.... it all adds up.. THEN you gotta worry about being able to even FIND parts..... the stress alone of calling people and saying nope... sorry. dont even carry anything for that... it sucks man.. but looking roza makes it worthwhile every time... to see the shocked expressions on people's faces when they see that i pose a serious threat with a lil 1.6l inline 4 and something they've NEVER heard of.... alot of people here tend to think that roza's a lil zook wannabe.. but then they find out shes capable of keeping up with the rest of the pack... they swallow pretty hard.... love that look.
