Go easy iam new to this posting thing..
Just upgraded too an 93 GXL diesel 80series from a 40series

Wanting do to a 5/6in lift too clear 35" with easy, dont want to do a body lift (just yet anyway) - thoughts???, enough lift to clear the rubber at full tilt???

Also will the front drive shaft cope with the angles,, being constant drive?? do i need to convert to just rear-wheel drive and/or double cardan joints??

Is the part-time 4wd kit easy enough to install?

Thanks guys..........ive learnt my lesson to ask questions first. Too much blood and tears where spilt under the 40series :cry:

u can clear 35's with 4 inch no probs

get spacer for rear drivehshaft,, it may overstretch.

castor bushes. and extended brake lines

u can leave it fulltime, but its advisable to convert to part time..

Marks at www.marks4wd.com.au have a kit to suit.

The last thing to consider is spacing down the front swaybar to clear the front prop shaft, or remove it all together.
A friend runs round with a 4 inch lift and 35's, which clear ok. 5-6 inches would be better though :twisted:
You will have less problems with caster and no driveshaft vibration issues with the 4 inch lift. A body lift ontop of that would allow 38's to clear.
When you get your rubber, put them on 60 series offset rims to keep things stable and away from the inner guards, and you will be fine.

My 80 has 6" lift & 35s, i went the way of the 2wd kit and i like it, drive really well.

Even with this lift the 35s will just hit the rear flares at the back of the guard ( just above mudflap area) at least mine do any way, not really a prob tho.

Hi If u shorten the top arms 10mm, u will get the propshaft angles back to spec, and the diff will move a fer mm forward to stop the rubbing.
Ive done this a few times :cool:

That is infact impossible. Cruisers peaked with the 40s!!!!!!
you knnow it.... your wife musta talked you into the 80!
