Leaky Rear Diff

Post by Croz »

Pretty sure its related to the lift that just went in a few weeks ago...

Looks like I'll have to replace the main seal, just a dribble at the moment but it might clear up... you never know.

Anyone done it before? Doesnt look too hard from the manual but I havent pulled this one apart before...

is it worth the trouble to fix it yourself ?
my rear main seal of the engine is leaking ... cant be bothered doing it myself ..... way to much involved .. need to drop the transmission and gearbox .... so im getting my mechanic to do it :P and while hes at it put new oil in all 3 of them since i planning to that anyway.

if you do it yourself ... sure you might save money but youve lost money from not being in at work on that say ... so it really is up to you ... put the effort in and learn something or give it to someone else and dont worry about it .

Hmmm, I think you might be trying to convince the wrong person of that... I built my last car from the ground up, stitched the interior myself, went through four engines three boxes and two diffs... All bar dyno tuning my was work...

Its not a hard job, plus you get an understanding of the workings of your car, when it breaks in the bush you might be able to fix it without tow home.

I dont think the guys that did the exhaust will spring for a new seal cos it leaked on the hoist.. if thats what you meant...

Yeah Mick, I am reasonable certain that its the pinion and it doesnt surprise me that it might happen again... doesnt make me happy though!

I'll do it myself for sure.
