New Mav

Post by Beastmavster »

Sold the Vitara on the weekend, and there was nothing MQ/MK of any value in the trading post - 4 speeds for $4k....

However Chimpboy spotted a Mav Shorty in Pickles auctions and a seed was planted. The price would be a bit higher, but with no 5 speed MK's in the market it looked possible, and not TOO much more expensive.

It was possible :D

I now am the proud owner of a 89 Mav. Think it's an XLT (factory diff lock, power stuff and wide wheel pack).

Not my fave colour but it'll have to do for now... plans are still much the same as would have been for an MQ - 33"s, maybe 3" lift and eventually twin lockers.

Not a bad start at least. More when I get to tinker, as Im sure I'll have lots of stupid questions to ask.....

Congratulations on stepping up to a mav. I used to have a suzuki as well and made the switch, i'm still getting used to the better comfort levels. You won't be sorry you got the gq instead of an mq. :) Looking forward to seeing some of the mods.

Yer I got to the auction as well. Cool fun, these car auctions!

The pics on the Pickles site probably won't be up long so here they are:

From what we could tell it has the factory diff lock; it's got the switch, didn't know what to look for underneath unfortunately but will find out soon enough. Slight minor body damage not visible in the pics and obviously no bull bar but my old alloy one is sitting there spare for at least temporary use.

It only occurred to me after I got home that having a mate buy a car identical to yours is PRETTY PHUCKING Grimace!

But whatever, it was a STEAL at the price. I'm jealous of that diff lock!

And if you can get Andrew to tell you what he paid for it you will be too.

Now "SuzukiViagra" needs a name change I think since he hasn't got a Suzuki so he no longer needs viagra :)

Calling me "Chimpy" is kinda Grimace too, man.

Hmm.

Right time to sell... when someone wants to buy it.

I thought it was getting a rockhopper. :(

Instead I got a Mav :D

New toy..... so that's always good value.....

Blown my budget way out of the water by buying it, but hey who can afford to buy a house these days.

The Vitara was really good for something different and people were always amazed at what I could do in it even with only one locked diff, but still it was a pretty rough ride and I'm getting too old for that stuff in a Zook.

I'll make the changeover price back in chiropractor bills within a few months ;)

Very unusual colour for a Mav, not factory?
I reckon this colour looks tough - really "bushy", wont show the dust.
Will look great with the big tyres.
The flares will come back to black with the right treatment.

Needs some work still before it comes out.... I'd rather wait a little longer and be prepared rather than bugger something up.

Maybe I learnt from the Zook :D
