Yep, took a little while to work out the shifter it dosn,t seem to like to shift to low range while in gear , and the diff lock runs off the same shifter but over to the left if you know what i mean,
Only ever had the other type with the separate difflock button .
Just the tires John the thing.s that where on there are some michelin with that old 6" wide road pattern ,Mind you The yard is Very slipery when wet . Front left rear right spinning,
Bit of update , found a good bonnet and done the best we could with the inner front gaurd , spent good part of a day drilling all the spot welds out
then striaghtened each piece separatly then back together little paint ,
decided to remove a bit off the bottom of the front outer gaurds while i biult a tube front bar , Is looking better than when it arrived here .
As i was changing the wheels i noticed it had an aftermarket stabiliser bar fitted to the rear which may have helped get the thing bogged in the front yard while crossed up slightly , so i removed it to unleash some extra flex.
Have a question for the model gurus , this one is stamped 83 , it was an
auto before the last owner done the gmv6 th700 conversion -
the transfer case is mounted to an adapter, and it has the Center diff lock activation via the transfer shifter , it also has a larger transfer brake drum than my LT95 , so this would be a LT230 ?
Thanks
Larry.

Yep, the autos had the LT230. The fact that you have the big drum brake and the lever for diff lock confirms this. Now hurry up and put some crawler gears in it!!!

MMmm tempting , But Rather buy an Atlas for my critta Tuff-
Thing rides better on the little muddies i think removing the rear sway bar helped the ride quality a little too - any one refinished the woodwork on the doors before ?
Oh heres a link for some pics , http://www.difflock.com/discus/messages ... 1093387239

jeez that front bar looks like mine.... did you bend the tube or is it straight.... hard to see in pics...
same colour rangie as mine as well... but mine is 2dr
as for the auto/transfer it will be the lt230 and....only shift to low while in Neutral... i believe this to be correct procedure...if still hard rock car gently from N to D to N to R and try again...if still wont go in, hold lever into low position with a little pressure while rocking the car again..

Thanks Landy ,
The bar Has a very slight bend , 60mm but is a thick wall , Tube was about 2 foot longer I stuck it on top of one of my 35s on my critta and ramped the rangy on it up tp the middle still had to get my young bloke on the step and rock the thing to get that slight bend , Does the job
Went for a run this morning started over heating thermo fan that was fitted took a knock in thr prang , So had to use my twin fan setup from my other one Oh well works well now !
Thanks for the hints !

RUFF wrote:What sort of $$ did you pay for it? How does it go with the Commo V6?
cost to date Ruff,
RR $1700
Bonnet $100
Narva
Headlights $79
Piant $20
Total $1899.
So far Im rapt in the way it goes, Tare weight is 1800 kgs on engineers papers, Pretty sure it would eat a stock 3.5 -and give a 3.9 a hard time
Gearing on road is good for the combo , sitting round 80ks box isn,t sure if it wants 3 or 4 , but settles at around 85 90,
He used the standard com steer pump, works fine , The passengers side
header is on the chass rail , it has the cast ex manifolds so I will look into the tube type header that came out on the early ones it could be made to clear with less work, Mind you it isn,t causing any grief ,
It seems very economical at the moment but give it a month and i,ll
have some figures .
After getting it thinking would have been better setup for my other one aswell - Im not sure if the box TH700 is same as a standard commadore
motor and box was from a calias , any idea ruff ?
