What 3.0 liter diesel is in the surfs? 1KZTE?
would the auto, transfer and motor come close to "bolting in" into a 1990 petrol dual cab (22r)?

surf diesel!!!!
Stick it in low and NAIL IT !!!!!!!!!!
probably, but the bolting-in would be the least of your worries. you'd probably have to transplant masses of electronics to get it to work properly - not just the computer and engine wiring but probably critical parts of the instrument cluster and whatnot as well. NICK might have more info on what would be required.

yeah it would fit, and thinking about it i think it would be an easy conversion provinding you got a front cut. sit the 2 side buy side swap everything including the wiring harness. the cluster, which you will need will fit into the 106 dash, then agan if you are swaping harness i would swap in all the electric mirrors/ac and other shit at the same time. dont get the intercooled one as it wont fit unless you have a body lift. If you have a solid axle the sump will need to be modified.
I think there is a better swap out there for the $$$$ but his is the best if you want a turbo diesel.

Nick,
What is the better diesel swap out there besides the 1KZ-TE? I heard they came stock with a R154 (Supra) gearbox. What Tcase was used behind such a combo?
In a petrol conversion, what is better than the tired 22R in my 1985 4x4 Hilux?

MacroP wrote:1KZ-TE = R151F box. Similar to Supra but with much lower first gear.
Tx box is chain drive type.
Ah, the R151. That makes more sense. So the 23 spline gear driven T-Case from an earlier 22RTE would bolt onto the R151 with no problems?
What about the motor mounts to my 1985 4x4 Hilux frame?

Dont forget all the electronics involved
The 1KZTE has a electronic computor controlled injection pump
The auto [girls gearbox] is electrinic computor controled
The ADD unit [Attention Defficit Dissorder] on the chain drive transfer case is electronicaly controled

the engine mount chassis posts will have to moved and fabricated
