I think the problem has been fixed over early versions, but make sure that the cone washers are under adequate pressure from the stud nut and washer. On mine an early version the tapers had been bored too deep and it was necessarry to pack another washer to fit into taper on top of cone washer. Other people i know had studs sheer off because the cone washers werent doing their job properly.

does the kit include crush sleeves and reinforcing plates for the steering box mounting? welding and accurate drilling skills are required

as far as i know the kit does not include anything to mount the ifs steering box.

Ive been trying to install mine and have got the shits with them, the pin that slots onto the top of the steering knuckle is to big and has to be sanded down to get a nice and tight fit, i know this is best but its a real pita putting it in and pulling it out all the time to remove a little more of the surface to get them to fit.

The snake kit comes with the box mounting. But i was a turd skinner and got the kit from ori instead :). Worked fine. Just a bit of welding and drilling to do.

Are these Snake Racing ones?

Is this the Pin that locates the Trunion Bearing?

How old are your Arms?

If they are new then they are still no better than the first set that were fitted to a certain cruiser up here over 2 years ago. This locator should be machined to factory tolerances not sanded down till it fits. If this is the case i would be taking them back. Also the first set i had seen the Cones would not even locate in the right spot as they had been machined totaly wrong. The Ti-rod holes were also machined to deap in the arm and the ti-rod would bind on the rubber boot when flexed.

Im not trying to put Snake Racing down but if this is still a peroblem now after more than 2 years on the market i wouldnt recomend these arms to anyone.

yes these are snake ones
the pin fits into the bearing part alright but getting it to seat in the knuckle is a real pita.

the arms are bj's old ones, they had just been sent to snake to be fixed up and remachined, maybee i need to talk to rihno or something

I now have the new ones on my lux and they fit sweet, no problems at all, one thing with the snake arms is they now come with new studs, washers, cones and nuts. The reason for this is you`d be surprised how many people where using bolts and what ever they could find to bolt them on with instead of the standard studs etc, wheather they had broken them, lost them or what ever reason you wouldn`t know

Ok thats odd then because this part of the arm on BJs was fine. Maybe there is some damage in your Knuckle?

Thats great. I think anyone fitting new arms should also be replacing the studs with new ones. As you realy dont know how good your old studs are and there is usually a lot more force on the studs when fitting Highsteer arms and Crossover.

Even if you dont get them with the arms they are available from Toyota and are a lot cheaper than a long night in the middle of the bush waiting for someone to go get some replacements.

[sarcasm]
aww c'mon Tony, that's what low-budget 4 wheeling is all about! freezing nights in the rain waiting beside a stuck broken vehicle, mozzies, mud, hearing strange scary noises, freezing cold, calling your mates older brothers who give you that 'you're an idiot' look when they hear what you've done, but you know they did it all themselves just a couple of years ago - and wondering just how the hell you're going to pay back all the people you borrowed money from just to get the ratty truck into a state where it was capable of getting stuck so far from civilisation!

so I vote, use your old studs! and take 2 of them out, they're redundant anyway! and don't bother with cone washers, those are just toyota being over cautious! tie the steering together with fencing wire! and gaffer tape! and if it doesn't fit, file bits off it until it does! and while you're at it, ignore those noises from the transfer case, and the oil leaks from the diff, and the temperature needle that's always in the red, you can't afford to fix them anyway right? your mates will always help you out, for sure! [/sarcasm]

its funny because it's exactly what I used to do when I was young and stupid. I'm old and stupid now

If I was you I`d mount the box as far forward as you can (which if you want good flex and big tyres you`ll end up moving diff forward atleast 40mm later) and use this in the shaft http://store.snakeracing.com.au/cache/i ... l?cache=no
