Freelander - Opinions

Post by auto_eng »

I am buying my wife a near new car soon and I have been narrowed it down to a Landrover Freelander or a Mazda Tribute (maybe a KIA Sorento but there is none around used).

Any input you guy have as to what these cars are like would be appreciated. Remember, this is not going to be a hardcore 4x4. It will be a grocery getter and do few beach trips so I don't think no low range will be a problem. I will be buying an auto

Does the Freelander have any inherint problems? I know it's older brother (Rangie) has a few 'quirks'.

One thing i will say is the tribute will use about the same amount of fuel as a V8 disco, expect 18 - 20 L/100K around town and 16s on the highway.

I will see if I can find them,

I remember comparing them when they first came out with various other
4x4s and I remember them being a bit less than a disco and I said to the mazda guy that I could drive a disco for what this thing uses in fuel.

I will find my source and get back to you
