which tyres for my RR?

Hi all

im just new to these forums and 4x4 in general

ive bought myself a 79 RR fitted with a 308 and turbo 400 auto and OME 2" lift

next week it goes in to get 2"body lift and the guards chopped out so that i can fit some decent rubber under there

a couple of questions i have are
what is the biggest and widest tyre i can fit with those mods?(2"body lift +2"susp+chopped guards)

what are your opinions on these tyres?
they will be used mainly for mud and bush work so road handling isnt an issue.

Cant go past the simex's. Thats what id choose.

Just pick the prettiest one.. theyre all the same :D

Its not a qestion of what fits, bt rather a question of what drivetrain yo are or intend to run..

Simex is great, but its rough on the drivetrain...suggest you consider this first...

ive been warned that once i get traction i may pop a diff or 2

i am looking at upgrading the rear diff to a maxi drive for the strength once the old one goes

If you want the most aggressive tyres for maximum traction the go with the simex's.

the link you gave for the simex was the simex centipede m/t this only comes in a 31 at the moment. I am think that the better and larger tyre you are refering to is the extreme trekker (also known as centipede)

Do you mainly drive mud?

If yes I reckon Simex ET - or Mongrels if you want a cheap alternative.

However I went out wheeling a couple of weeks ago with a dude running Creepy Crawlies and they were siiiiikk on the rocks :D

Mongrels are a extreme trekker copy made by motor way. much cheaper. They are retreads/remoulds on an old tyre carcase

creepy crawlers are a model of tyre. google it.

mongrels are a simex centipede imitation-they look very similar but are a retread tyre-personally not a big fan of them at about $200 a tyre i don't think they come in 35's either and are speed rated to 120kph i think

the creepy crawlies are a tyre made by maxxis

They are called the "creepy crawler", and from what I have read, although they work well off-road, wear and ride very badly on-road, and have a badly shaped profile if you don't mount them on exactly the right rim width.
