u may need 2 redo bearings but if not make suer the backlash is ok.
only other thing is the drive flange will have a different bolt pattern, 2 will line up and 2 wont, just bolt down the 2 that line up and drill out the others. or get the flange changed over at a diff shop.
i paid 125 inc freight from melbourne 2 newcastle 4 mine. thats a complete diff centre

Check the pinion Nut first before you fit it. If it has a 30mm nut its a Fine Spline Pinion and this is good but if it has a 28mm nut then its a course spline pinion and this is Bad.
Although i know a guy running 5.29 course splines front and rear in a zook with lockrights and has had no problems at all but it is light.

The course spline ones came out of early hiace vans.

Is there a difference in strength between hiace 5.29 and hilux 4.88 ?
Its a strength issue. The pinion is prone to snapping. The axle spl;ines are still both the same and they both bolt in the same. You just cant swap the pinion flanges over. So there is no choice but drilling the flange on a course spline type.
Yes the 5.29 is weaker than a 4.88. The pinion is smaller on the 5.29.
