I've been told that a 2 & 1/2 inch is good, but someone said 3 inch is better. Some wisdom on this matter would be great

Hi all - I have a GQ TD42 diesel with a standard exhuast pipe. What I want to know is, what's the best size of exhaust pipe for this motor ?
I've been told that a 2 & 1/2 inch is good, but someone said 3 inch is better. Some wisdom on this matter would be great

So you would want bottom end then correct?
cool thanks it is a non turbo
turps wrote:If it is a non-turbo, 2.5" would be the way to go. Then if you want to fit a turbo later on and the exhaust is still in good nick, it will be big enough.
But if it is a turbo TD42 then I would go the 3" straight thru with only a small resonator/ muffler thing.
