2H question
G’day guys, just a quick question. I just rebuilt my 2H, and I was wondering how long it takes to put up the oil pressure? Will it only do it when the motor is going, or should it pump it up when you turn the motor over on the starter?

it can take a long time of cold cranking. if you assembled the engine with assembly lube and/or plenty of oil, don't be afraid to fire it up, watch the pressure and if it doesn't come up within say 10 seconds of running, you have a problem.

How long are we talking cold, i have had the Glow plugs out and cranked it over 50 times, and still getting nothing. dad ripped out the oil pressure bung, (on the bottom of the motor, which connects the mail oil feed pipe to the block) and we cranked it over and still getting nothing. We have placed oil down this hole to try and prime the pump, but it still wont push oil out of this hole as you would expect.

50 revolutions might not be enough. start it, see how it goes. I have built motors that I have cranked for hundreds of revolutions without any oil pressure showing up and then just starting them and up it goes. if the seal clearances in the oil pump are even slightly worn then it takes some velocity to get up any pressure.

good work. is this in your 40?
Yeah its for the BJ40, finally got it going after three months of sitting around the shed...... its got 10mm between the motor and the fire wall, and its about the same for the fan and radiator. Most people said to put the 40 radiator back in, but because the radiator Inlet and Outlets were on the other side to the motor inlets and outlets, I fitted the 60 series radiator in. So now it’s got 2H power, disk brakes and power steering
It sound TOUGH and goes really well, which is a worry because its suddenly has power tooo burn
Thanks for the help, i was shit scared of farking it up after all that hard work
