Sunroof on my NH is very slow and laboured to open and shut. It's been getting worse for about 6 mths now. If you hold the button and push the roof it will move easily.
Do the tracks need greasing? If so, with what sort of grease/oil.
I've also noticed a bit of rust in the front sunroof surround. Does the glass extend far into it, or can I cut out the rust safely.
And yes I know it's a mongrel of a job!!
Thanks
Dave

Yeah I would try a good greasing of the tracks
Also check for any obstructions or crud build up.
Maybe the motor is on it's way out an auto eleccy will know straight away by testing current draw.
Usually with these sunroofs it's water leaks thats the problem which is the rubber seal, genuine Mitsu seal kit is $350

Hello,
Silicon spray is good for electric windows and sun roofs. I use it on the runners on my Subaru with good results. Need to do it every six months but well worth it. CRC make a good product; I think it's called 808 or something like that. You can also use it as a water repellant in your engine bay and other electrics.

Shorty Gen2, lots of stuff and more to come!
My Sunroof has been hard to close ever since I had a drunk sticking his head out of it when I was trying to close it and he kinda knocked it off the track. Occasionally I have to wind it shut with the manual winder thingo.
Are they hard to get fixed ? I haven't really worried about it because I don't use it very often but it would be good to have it working again.

ive got an old horse NG and the sunroof was basically dead when i got it ... will probably look at replacing motor later .. but every day for the first week i used it and sprayed WD40 along the tracks .... made sure i used 2 - 3 times a day and let it sit inbetween and sprayed it each time
now its fine .... locks back up no worries and 100% quicker then before .... maybe grease is good but more gung might get stuck with it .. the wd40 blows all the crap away ....
just my thoughts ... give it a go ...

I have the NF. Same probs. Gets slower. Have taken it out , cleaned it sanded the frame for rust, greased the tracks(IMHO wrong thing to do as dust mixed with the grease forming a paste) have been using wd40 and similar - now works fine. But the rust is a very common problem across models, front left corner.
Maybe graphite powder?
