What can ppl out there reccomend for a waterproot HTB grease for independant front hubs.
I keep blowing bearings with castrol HTB in them when they get wet.

Why would IFS wheel bearings be any different to normal bearings? Just askin.
How often are you greasing them compared to drowning them? EG go thru 5 creeks, then re-grease them 8 mths later.
I used some Mobil Waterproof Bearing Grease on mine on weekend in the GQ, gotta do the other side now. Was too lasy to do both at once.
I thought IFS hubs might have been a bit more exposed to water than solid axles.. I have never pulled solids apart so cant compare.
Edit... Also, can anyone tell me... if one bearing has lost the shine off the rollers and the cone but is not sloppy does it need replacing? Or can I repack it?

Not collapsing, they are becoming dry and noisy. When I removed them the inner bearing race was in poor condition with the shine having gone from the surface. The outer bearing is fine.
I repacked them thurs and they were smooth and quiet, then got them pretty wet (read: very wet) friday and they are now noisy and rough on the road especially under brakes.
I am wondering if I need to actually replace the inner bearing, or just repack it with new grease. repacking them on thurs last weeks solved the prob until they got wet. The bearings themselves are only 9 motns and 20,000km old.

To repack they must be removed, races cleaned out and new grease forced in. (lots of sites on Net show pix)
Dullness on shells may be OK if no damage or brinelling etc.
Waterproof grease still lets water in, just helps lube a little longer before failure. Use excess of grease behind races when installing to act as a dam.
Water is the bane of 4 wheeling, avoid if you can, but not always possible.
Hot hubs will suck when dunked in water.

Ensure all seals in good nick, for IFS no damage to drivshaft boots,
breathers all open and clean and above water level. Replace Toyota valve type breathers with open ones and a cheap petrol filter on top end of extension hose.
