HJ60 Temp sender

Does anyone know roughly what the resistance of the temp gauge sender should be at normal operating temperature for an HJ60?

ok its got a graph for the resistance vs temperature

im not sure what optimal temperature is tho

10 ohm = -10degrees

2 ohm = ~ 20 degrees

1.5ohm = ~ 40degrees

0.5ohm = ~ 80 degrees

0.18ohm = ~ 100degrees

as you can see, it is much more accurate at lower temperatures and appears to be logarithmic. It's used mainly for the pre-heating system i believe so it doesnt need to be accurate at high temps.

i can measure the resistance of mine at operating temp tomorrow if youd like.

i can email the graph to you if youd like.

That is the temp sensor for the glow/fuel preheating system???

I was after the temp sensor for the temperature gauge on the dash.

They are different....the one for the dash gauge is in the thermostat housing and should be much higher in resistance than that!!!

Does your manual have any other graphs?

Don't worry about it now...just got a new temp sensor from Repco for 10 bucks. It works a charm now. Was the sensor all the time.

didnt know there were two sensors :S

wheres the guage sensor then?

and nup, has nothing about the guage sensor in the toyota workshop manual

the gauge sensor is the one that is located in the bottom of the thermostat housing. It has one wire going to it.

The other sensor is located at the front top of the intake manifold. It has a two wire plug on it. As far as I am aware, that is the one for the preheating system.

yep your right

the one i have a graph for is the one in the top front of the head, not the one in the lower thermostat housing.

cant find any details on that sensor at all :|
