Some of the judging on certain things is still questionable but overall really well done. Having a few OL guys competing with us certainly made the competitive atmosphere a bit more enjoyable, and lets us appreciate the incredible commaradery that we share at XRCC events even more. The stark contrast in competitive styles was really displayed when on SS3 the last 2 cars being BB and an un-named 80 (bighp), took there runs. First BB lines up, i run to the first obstacle and UN - stack all the logs filling the hole and then do our run,
last rig of the day - big 80, stacks does his run and runs 100m back in darkness to unstack - JUST IN CASE someone else gets an advantage.
Fair is Fair but that was pathetic, we have been critisised in the past for yelling comments at drivers in the past but as fellow competitors stopping a vehicle from damaging itself in a situation that the spotter cant see so it can keep competing is sportsmanship, and a victory from preventable attrition is a pretty hollow one in my book. I know many will agree it is better to win when every one is performing at there best not just being the last one left after pussy footing around watching others break.
BUT who won?
not us.
But we one the gorge (the 1 that matters, the best trophy)
YOU HAVENT BEEN TO TOWNSVILLE YET!!!!!!!!!!
as for the unstackin well its goes with out sayin if ya wann leave it all in there itsw upto you but i wood preffer it to be removed....i was responsible for a huge stackin effort on track 2 at round 2 navigating for festa i went back and removed it all...
and its not done to purposely go out and damage the next vehicle its there to give everyone a fair playin course thats the way its been run for ages there is no way i wood go to the effort of stackin and doin all that effort only to have it driven by the next competitor that doesnt have to lift a finger that IS NOT HOW ITS WORKS.....
like i said the track shood be driven then the navi shood put everything back to the way he or she found it mate you cant just turn round and have a whinge at other competitors for doin what they have been told in the past i personally have met and know JEFF SCHINDER and his navi, two top blokes and are great embassadors of the sport and yeah they play hard but everyone plays hard mate its just how hard ya wanna play and from what i heard from ppl it was JEFF SCHINDER that won round 3 i think

i haven't got the results sheets yet and will post up when i do.
It was a fairly hard comp this round ...only 8 out of 22 mod class rigs did all the courses... we came 8th i think
we went first on track 3 [because we won last round] and pioneered the new route but ended up with a score of 200... would have been good to have another go to see the difference it makes but this way keeps the end of year scores close.
we got badly stuck a couple of times on track 1 and ended up with a score of 165
We managed a fairly respectable score of 65 for the gorge by driving it all in one go but got pinged for excessisve wheelspin a couple of times
In the 80's defence... we are supposed to remove any rock stacking that we do as part of the rules but there is no penalty for not doing it [that i can remember anyway ]
We didn't do real well score wise but had a great fun as usual
Damage...
ripped sliders off the chassis.
bent trailing arm.
reduced sub tank capacity by about 5 litres.
squashed a rear shock.
lost some more paint and made the sill dents deeper.
oh yeh, the new patrol4x4.com stickers only lasted 50 metres

Rule Number 1: If FESTA drives past your campsite,HIDE.
That is what I learnt on the weekend.
Rule Number 2: If FESTA says he will come back in the early hours of the morning (3-4am),HE WILL.
I stayed awake holding onto the zippers of my tent, ready to swing the mag lite at him each time he came back.
Then the incident on Sat night, that was embarassing.

I would like to add my thanks to Glen, all his officials and helpers for their thanksless efforts throughout the year. I did enjoy the emphasis on limitiation of wheel spin. Except for the fact that I did an engine conversion after the last round to make sure that I could keep up with the horsepower race.
Damage report for the weekend was 1 tierod end and one front crown wheel. I've competed 3 times with my new motor and have had differential damage on each occasion. Luckily enough, my shiat held together for the duration of the competition and it was only me being stupid at the end that did the damage.
Looking forward to next year!

Muss, i met and had a good chat to the 80 boys and yes there are really nice blokes, just meant that there run was the last one on that track for the year. As for unstacking, I am with you , i too think everyone should be able to try and drive it all the same. Only reason i UN-stacked is cus' i was unsure on the ruling? If people leave it stacked for the next car, then so be it, if they allow it I will go with it too, i know i am waaaaay to lazy to go back and unstack
Trying to talk BB into going for a short drive to t'ville for a round, keeps whinging about the fuel bill? Is there any reeealy good tracks near the comp area?

Fester loves EVERYBODY!!!! But me the most....... Sheetie is a car s**t - but Blake is learning really quick
I didn't hear about the "incident" on Saturday night with Fester and Mandy - hate missing out so do tell!!!
On a serious note - any comments good or bad are very much appreciated as this is how we all learn what is working and what isn't working. Remember without the competitors, we wouldn't have a short course.
As for rock stacking and unstacking, this is usually left to the discretion of the last navie that did it. I feel that all rock stacking and such should be put back as it was before you entered the track. This does keep it uniform for the next competitor. But it is up to the last navie/spotter to make the call.
The end of year presentation dinner is a definate go and will most probably be around the 2nd Saturday night of October - providing we can organise numbers of interest and also the availability of a hall/room big enough to cater for us all. So input here is a MUST..
Once again thankyou to all for the support and encouragment for Short course. Looking forward to it all next year.

Another great event to wrap up the LCMP 2004 series.
Mandy, Festa really isn't that bad, ask Chicky, she spent the morning with him in his swag...
The ASCC is made up of some extremely dedicated people - both competitor and official - much like a family, where people help each other out. Glen Zipf has brought all these people together over the years for one reason - to have a good time doing what they love. It's not easy to run an event of the calibre of ASCC, Glen has devoted so much of his time and money in ensuring the success of this fantastic event format, so much work gets done in the background that no-one ever sees. On behalf of Nyree and myself, I would like to commend Glen for the heart and soul that goes into the ASCC, and his dedication to the sport he loves. He's the first to arrive, the last to leave, the first one to give some words of encouragement to a competitor, the last one to hit Jake on the head with a spoon, the one to put it all on the line for the enjoyment of others.
ARMSUP to Glen Zipf.
Looking forward to the awards dinner, got a few things planned. Can't wait to see what Sheety will bring out of the closet for this one, and just to see Festa in a tie...(leopard skin G?)
