MQ/GQ tie rod ends

Post by Rosey »

Hi Guys,

wondering if the tapper on the GQ tie rod ends is the same as the tapper on the MQ patrols? My tie rod ends have sooooo much play.

I don't care to much about threading as I'm planning to use a Snake racing rock rod. This is to go on a SOA so I won't need the drag link tie in point (hi-steer arm).

Does anyone also happen to know if you can get a reemer tappered to the correct size to take the tappered rod end? Surely there is an easier way to tapper the hole rather then using a lathe.

cheers

people will tell you they are different, but i have used GQ & GU rod ends in MQ knuckles, GU rod ends in GQ pitman arms and MQ rod ends in GQ knuckles, and they all pull up tight and stay that way, so i reckon they are all the same.

you can get a reamer for that taper, i have used one, but i don't know what the actual measurements of it are.

thanks Wendle, i'll go looking for the reamer. I thought the tappers where likely to be the same.

cheers
