Post by feroza ron »

Hi,

I have some worn teeth on the drive pinion & ring gear of my front differential (aka diff.)

Since there are so few ferozas for used spares and buing directley from daihatsu is comiting financial suicide i started looking for parts from other cars that can fit.
anyone here knows what can fit ? maybe toyota or other lite trucks ?

thanks :?

Couldn't have been worse then when i sold my Feroza, it had a nice 2"x1" hole in the housing where i spat parts of the diff through it.

I'm not from down under - I'm from Israel (small country - big problems  ) and the Roza certainty has a problem from the drive pinion & ring gear - grinding noise at low speed , small bits and metalic looking dust in the diff oil.
What is that welding thing you sugested ? and how does it efect road handling ?

(Do)ron dont forget that up here (Israel) the IFS is the rigid type...
no lock hubs for us... so the road handling will be very bad.

There are some full time 4wd ferozas round the world... no locking/free wheeling hubs and they have a centre differential... I think this is what is meant.

Kent (Toyhatsu) has one in USA.

Sheesh, is it so hard for the aussies to understand?

No locking hubs, just a drive flange connecting the wheel hub to the axle shaft. A normal 2wd/4wd t case, disengaging 4wd by selecting 2wd in the transfer case, removes drive going to the front diff from the motor, but still receives drive enduced by the rotation of the front wheels.

Prolly pick up a set of AISIN manual locking hubs about $50 AUS second hand, these hubs are common and strong.

god does this question ever end? no.... there are NO lockers...... NOTHING! not even custom... we've had so many people come onto here thinking they could provide custom lockers but never produce the goods.... honestly this is just me but i'm sick and tired of getting my hopes up about lockers and having no one produce the goods... only way you'll get lockers on your roza is if you replace your entire driveline! sas the bitch and slap on some yoda axles with lockers provided for them. :?

Is your Avatar the picture of your truck???

Cause if it is, then it is an Aus. Rocky.

My first truck was one of those hard top Rockys.

And to answer your question about lockers, yes there was a limited production run for the Aus. Rocky (provided that is your truck).

If its a Feroza, keep dreaming.

when i write "speaking of locking hub..." i mean that the following
question will be about locking hubs. the little thingy that you turn in the hub of the front wheels in order to connect them to the front shafts.
the feroza workshop manual has a all chapter written only for that but i haven't seen lokcing hubs here so i'm asking if any of you saw it ?
