lifting ifs lux on a budget
2000 xcab....
i'm only after a paltry 2inches.....
one day when i get serious i'll sas it... until then i don't wanna waste any more $$$ on the front end - so im prepared to just crank up the standard bars 2" and wack in these shortened bumpstops i got.
which gives me more to spend on the ass end....
what do i do with the rear leaves to get the 2" and improve travel? people seem to rave about ifs rears - i have no idea why as i find mine to be rather Grimace????
options seem to be replace them for around 400bucks or get them reset for unknown $$$ ? suggestions anyone??
load carrying is rarely above 500kilos.
would prefer to stick with old school fixed - non extending, non rotating, non spaceship controlling shackles but open to suggestions?
all advice gratefully rcvd

lift
Stick a block between the spring and axle. Big Balls sells them I think. Or use some heavy wall 2" tube with axle locating holes drilled in it.. Just a thought...
Custom body work by trees and rocks...

i would just use lift blocks or just do a body lift if u one want it lifted that much, would be cheaper and u wouldnt have to mess around with the springs

y cant he move the shackle hanger forward 2 get the same distance between mounts as a solid axle rig then they will b the same

he's a thinker be abit of stuffing around but would be pretty cheap, would u do the same to the front though? or get different springs to match the hieght of the rear?

thanks guys - appreciate the different points of view...
general concensus seems to be...
1 - chop the existing rear mounts and shorten the distance between mounts retaining existing springs. be a bit of a mission as i dont have ready access to a gas axe or welder
2 - use spacer blocks.... aside from being illegal in qld (not overly concerned but it's always nice to stay legal where possible) - ive heard some horror stories about lift blocks - axle wrap, etc.... or is that mostly confined to larger blocks??

What would the legallities of moving the rear mounts foward be?
Would they need to be looked at by an engineer?
Would they even notice?
I know I would want longer shackles but if the rear mount was moved foward would a standard length shackle no longer fit at all. ie if the law didnt like my extended shackles would a standard fit back in temp.
