GQ is better.
-coil susp (cheaper to replace).
-Bigger engines, but similar fuel economy
-they are slightly bigger (i think)

And theres not much difference in price now.
and they are so much more comfy.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....

what to get

Post by embryo »

get a GQ, MQs are getting a bit old now, no offence to proud owners of MQs. coils are a much more comfortable ride complimented by the more modern interior, all round a much nicer rig. and they made them for that many years so there is heaps of spair parts about not that you need them cos they never break!

If you can get an MQ for what it's worth (as opposed to what people try to sell them for) then it's still worth considering.

I couldnt find a decent mq with any of the stuff I wanted for the price I considered reasonable (about $2500 max unless it was 5 speed, a/c and p/s).

So I found a GQ and convinced myself it was close enough in price.

The answer is quite simple. If your soft get a GQ. If you don't need "important" things like comfort, get an MQ. It's that simple G stands for Girl, M stands for Man

GQ's have a wider wheel track as well.

And more importantly much lower first gear, 5 speed, normally have LSD, P/S, A/C and you can get factory lockers.

Add up the price of these as "options" (buy buying a later or buying them aftermarket and the price probably comes out in the GQ's favour.

Nothing wrong with the MQ but the Gq is a much better truck in every way except when it comes to a shopping cart.

As far as A/C goes, winding your window down costs nothing. As for Power Steering, weight benches can be bought cheap second hand

Go the GQ.
Please correct if I'm wrong guys but from observations there's more spares and after markets gear around for the GQ's.
I think mainly based on younger age, growing popularity and value for money in the used car market.

I my self have both,

Aftermarket gear is more redily avaliable for the GQ's, just think, diff ratios, rockhoppers, and the like,

It depends what your plans are, what your mechanical knowledge is like. and if your ready for building your own custom gear.

Sure winding down your windows is great, but not when following other fourbys in the dust, also, driving in dry conditions, windows dont help at all.
