engineers cert and 35s on 8's
Are claws the only tyres that you can get cert'd on an 8" rim as they have a letter from the manufacturer?
What about MTR's?
The engineer I usually use said no to a 12.5" tyre on an 8" rim and also said no to that tread width on a rangie citing it wasnt heavy enough for that much tread and wouldnt meet the minimum contact pressure requirements?
How are people getting around this to avoid defect notices?
Any advise appreciated.
Cheers
Daryl

Wendle,
Thanks for that. Spoke to John this arvo and all is well, apart from the requirement to strap 200lt of water in the back seat and drive around in circles etc......but no probs with what I want engineered.
I was speaking to Ray at Canberra Motor Works about it initially and he really wasnt going to come to the party, knows his stuff though, I suspect he just didn't want to be involved.
Cheers

why do you need to do that wendle?

cause mods like this cange the roll over characterics of the truck they want to prove you wont roll the truck on the road under emergency moves etc well at least any worse than stock
As far as im aware wen u go to n engineer they do right the size tyre being used but that duznt mean there covered ( I think u were lucky travis) legally cant run 12.5 " tyre on 8" rim needs to be 8,1/2" which is illegal in aus ,if u have trouble believing me ask hypolux bout it he got his truk engineered with 35"s got pulled over and asked 4 cert ,he said fine here u are N the coppa said u do realise your tyres are illegal he got off with a warning, and im sure same applies to 33"s if there 12.5.
anyway its my .02c worth i could be wrong (i have b4)
Dan
Ps with my new new truck im still gunna run 35"s and run the risk unless i can get those 315's that the shedguy is gettin in from the states...............................................in mtrs
