Which would be the best body/year model?
Firstly please excuse my lack of RR knowledge as I have only ever had Toyotas I know sweet f%ck all about them but am here to learn.
I'm toying with the idea of building a comp truck and looking into the idea of building a RR tray. Was wandering if people on here had views and opinions on what body, 2 door or 4 door, and what year model would be a good base to convert and build on.
Not sure what motor I would run as once again don't know about RR motors. Have read a bit in here and found that yes RR motors are light and make good HP but a chev 350 might be better even if heavier. Your opinions please.
Also if anyone has done a ute/tray conversion on here any pointers/things to look out for would be greatly appreciated.

the 4 speed in the early RR is pretty much bullet proof.
Difs are the issue on RR but easy fixes are available.

It really depends on if you want standard looking tray or a cab chassis type, 2dr with full body tray can be done in a day, a 4dr unless you are using lengthened rear 1/4's looks funny with the rear doors still in place.

This is passed on info from the phone i may have missed something out or included something accidently but i'm pretty sure these are the reasons why 4 door is easier
the 4 door was easier because you could cut down the rear doors and didn't need to make up new panels. Also the B pillar can be used from the 4 door where with the 2 door there were some issues.

I am in the process of getting a 83 4 door tray up an running for comps, with the aim of entering OBC next year.
This is my first RR, I have owned and have jumped in with both feet. Vehicle is 99% complete and I would gladly let you look at what I've done, though it might not be everybody's ideal vehicle.

LR Automotive in Vic have a 4 door ute kit I see from there webpage. It has all the panels, turret and the back section ready to be fitted. At $2500 I'm not sure if that's what people call value for money, but5 doesn't look too bad value to me, pending on cheap you are no offense to anyone
