Front noise in gu

Could someone give me some ideas about a noise in the front end of my gu.When i go full lock to the left not every time but a fair bit you hear a loud noise.

Only does it to the left and only when the wheels are on the ground.I cant imagine it is anything to do with axles . thanks all

It's like a clang noise like someone has just hit the diff with a hammer.

Had the same problem in my previous 4500, feel it in the footwell of the passenger side as well. Got worse up in the snow. Had front end tightened, bearings tested regularly, couldn't find anything loose. A friend had exactly the same probelm with his 3.0. We assume it is the spring moving in the seat, only a mil or so. Try a nylon packer see if it goes away.

my gu has a noise like a spriing reseatn but havnt realy put my finger on it a rubber sleev sounds good

could be just the spring moving slightly on the spring seat .
If it does it more when wet [slides easier] it could be body moving on body mount.
If at full lock it could be the steering stop.
could be loose shock mount or steering stabiliser.
could be worn or loose panhard rod bushes.

I just tracked down a similar noise in my 4500 wagon, when I went hard around a round about then into a left turn I got a clunk under the front, would swear it was at the housing somewhere. Checked everything on hoist off hoist cv & wheel brg's tie rods the lot, turned out to be cab mount at the A pillar. Door shuts better and all is quiet again. Make sure you use a large bar to check em cos I didn't at first & thought they were fine.

You didn't say whether you were on 4wd or 2wd at the time the noise occurs. If you were on 4wd it sounds like the hubs are slipping, otherwise it's probably the spring reseating as noted by other posts.

Put an ARB 5mm packer under both front springs seats.
Also check front steering arm not fouling. LAy under whilst someone turn.
Finally hold hand on all joints, panhard, steering and get someone to turn.
