hey folks just wondering with these ifs rears conversion....u have to make new top sring mounts further forwd on the chassis rail? and what hieght do these spring level at generally?? 2inch raised? 3? if any...help would be great

ifs rears
you'd find tons of stuff on here if the photos were up, but generally, yes you have to modify the mounting points at both ends of the leaf spring. they are longer than stock rears so everything has to be moved.
the spring itself doesn't give you the lift, the way i got the lift out of mine was to drop the mounts down with a new cross member. but the springs flex up heaps better because they are longer, that's why people use them.
Ben (Hypolux) has a mad setup on his, maybe search for that.

yeah i fogot the add to add i have aready extended shackles! but roc70y thanks for the reply...so ur saying a lower front crossmember(onthe rear of my rig) is the go? but what hight do the springs rest at.. like the same as a standard ifs rear?

I have ifs rears and three inch extended shackles. you don't have to move the hanger forward, but the ifs springs will move you diff backwards 1 inch. i have found that i haven't achieved any extra lift but alot more wheel travel. i haven't done this, but if you want your diff in the same position and don't want to weld new hangers on you could re-drill the location on the spring perch on the diff housing. if you move you shackle hangers back and still run the extended shackles, then you will get more lift.

do some engineering places make up spring reposisitioning blocks? would be the easy option, but your gonna need a new tailshaft anyway due to the extra flex so you might aswell leave it an inch back

didn't realise you were putting them in the back. i am running them front and back. to get the height in the rear, i'm running lift blocks and flipped u bolts, custom shock mounts and an anti wrap bar.

superior engineering make modified spring perchs........yeah i have the lot inverted shocks rancho rs5000..... so ur telling me that i can just put the springs in straight away and not modifie....or is it better to move the forward mountaing?

so u put ifs springs in the front as well??? how well do they compare to say parabolics???? im running diesel motor! and again what spring height do they give in the front...and do u take the load bearing springs out??

you don't need a new rear tailshaft in reguards to flex, only the front because your diff moves forward front and rear.

for putting them in the rear, i'm using the standard front mounting point and extendede shacles in the rear, i moved the rear monts back about 50mm to get a nice height. as for rear shaft i needed to get a new one anyway.
fronts sit flat but the ride and the flex is awesome! i removed the load leaf from the front but in hindsight i probably could have left it in. the corrugations at the Cape have shortenned the life of the springs heaps.
