Suppliers?

Post by zbuild »

Hi all, Its time to do a bit of upgrading, Ive got the go-ahead from the accountant/handbrake and was wondering on what local companies (Brisbane) I should approach to quote me on the following bits:

Koni adjustable shocks x 4
rear springs reset
shackles
torsion bars
bushes
Safari snorkel
ARB or similar air locker (front)
alignment

I'll probably fit most of this myself except for maybe the snorkel and the locker

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

zbuild,

I have been looking at this for a while now also. Haven't done much yet due to being incredibly busy with other commitments.

However here is what I have done or am going to do or have looked at:

Rear suspension - ARB OME HD shocks, ARB OME greasable shackles, 1988 Jackaroo 5 leaf packs.

Front suspension - Ball joint flip, wound standard torsion bars, ARB OME shocks.

You can also fit a spacer with the ball joint flip. Although I don't think I will anymore as it would look more stock to a copper etc without the spacer.

If you want the rear leaf packs reset with an extra leaf 'Fulcrum' was going to do mine for $240/pair if I removed them.

The Jackaroo springs are $100/pair from the wreckers. Although the 5 or 6 leaf packs appear to be rare. They only seem to be on 1986-89 Jacks.

I've been told by this forum that the 6 leaf packs will give 2.5in of lift and from my observation the 5 leaf should give 2in.

I have only just thought about this but MU/Frontera/Jackaroo had coil rear suspension on later models. I am not too sure of the Jack but it would be possible in theory to get a rear chassis cut of a MU/Frontera and transfer the coil suspension as all is the same otherwise (it would appear that way anyway). I don't know if this would work in practice but I am going to look into it but most likely I won't actually do it.

As for front torsion bars, I am happy with my standard ones. I also have about 80kg of extra weight over the front with bullbar/winch/batteries etc. I would advise you just crank your standard ones and see how they go before you shell out the $500 + fitting for aftermarket ones. Apparently I can fit V6 torsion bars from the wreckers if I want stiffer ones (I have the 4cyl) but I guess you have the V6 engine.

Here is a website for the ball joint flip.

If you look around the Isuzu section here you will find most of this info from when I asked about it.

Have fun.
