Rear Bar for NL

Rear Bar for NL
After a weekend at Briar Station have left the rear bar in a creek somewhere. Can anybody advise on an after market rear bar for a NL. I would prefer something in steel. Alternatively if I could be pointed in the right direction to somebody who could fabricate one.

Unfortunately there is nothing off the shelf that will bolt on such as a Kaymar etc.
The only ones I've seen have been custom made by local 4x4 shops (check your local area).
I asked Kaymar a while ago and they were not interested in developing one for the Gen 2 Paj as it was too difficult and not enough demand.

Just like once apon a time there wasn't enough demand for a front locker.
How about a role call? Who would be interested in a rear bar if Kaymar developed one? I've thought about a rear bar with dual swing-aways to carry two 33" spares, but I have no doubt there will be some reason that a bar developed for the LWB won't fit a shorty!

I am happy to look at Kaymars or any custom bar work out there. How do we get the ball rolling to show manufacturers there is enough demand out there.
In the mean time any suggestions who would be worth talking to regarding a custom job.

Cheezy will do one for mine eventually probably a cross between a tube bar and something that offers lower quarter panel protection. I may even shave a bit off the bottom of rear quarters so get some extra clearance.
It will also have to have the built in lights for ADR.
The problem with a Gen 2 is that the chassis rails will have to be shortened so a flush fit bar can be mounted the stock bumper tapers in at the centre. Mine will be built so a 36" tyre can be mounted on the back door without touching. Another option is a swing away carrier so a high mount jack/shovel can be mounted on the back door.

Did you raise your rear bar with the body lift Frank ? I raised mine and the 33" tyre just fits on. How will the door hold up to having a 36" tyre hanging off it ? Can it hold the weight alright ?

We had to mod the bracket so that the rim sat about 20mm higher on the bracket. With the 35" tyre on the back i cannot see through the rear window basically.... But the door handles the weight no probs.

Now heres a question? Are the rear bars the same throughout the GLS models?(Thinking that most of us have Gls) Ie. 1992 vs 1999. (NH vs NL) Are the Swb and Lwb bars the same?

From swb to lwb the "caps" on the ends of the bumpers are different - shorty "follows" the wheel arch, LWB has vertical end on the cap, then another bit to the wheel arch.
I bought my "lift kit" from a NH LWB GLS, which included modified brackets to lift the rear bumper. These fit my shorty perfectly, so something is common...
After my lift the 33" MT/R has zero clearance to the bar - I'm not aware of it rubbing as I open and close the door, but there's SFA gap.
