I have a 85 amp alternator in my HJ60. I needed more juice so i had to mount a second alt above the power steering pump and customise the radiator hose. I now have a 85amp and a 65amp which will oneday be replace by a 200amp alt off a 100series turbo diesel cruiser.

the local auto-elec down the road told me re-winding the original was no big deal, and would cost about $1 per amp. $80 for 80 amps + labour getting it out and in. Dont know if thats still the case.

THE PROBLEM WITH REWIRIMG IS THAT THE ALT DOsE NOT WORK untill
the motor is reving at high rpm's .
if are just at an idel and putting around it is putting in less than a std alt.
the new 80 amp alt put out 65 amps at 500 rpm and 80 amps at
1600 rpm's and 130 amps at 3500 rpm's .. this is an approx only.
and a new 80 amp alt will cost $520-00 from l.c. 4x4.
it will suite models >TOYOTA Dyna BU60 Diesel B 3.0Ltr 1985-89
