Vitara 4sp ELECTRONIC Auto into manual vitara

Post by antt »

righto, i've got a deal on an auto with transfercase on the back to use for my dual case project, but i would like to swap in the auto as well as it'll be good for crawling.

problem is my vitara is a manual, and i dont get the computer with the automatic. the auto is an electronic one with overdrive (ie. 4 speed electronic, not the old 3 speed trimatic in the earlier vits).........so how hard will it be to swap in? could i manualise the auto and use a simple switch to engage and disengage overdrive?

ANY info would be appreciated as i've got a limited time frame.

I'd try and find the computer from a wrecker if possible. For the answers to your Q's try Rodney at Wholesale Automatic Transmissions http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/ or try him on MSN Messenger rodney@speedcarworld.com.au. He's very helpful.

When did you change the jeans to a skirt? Why do you want an auto?

an auto is sooooooo much smoother when your driving on the rocks, plus there is the added gearing reduction of the torque convertor

More to the point, why wouldn't you want an auto?

Because autos are an abomination unto god.

Slow to accelerate, heavy on juice, uncontrollable on descents etc etc.... pure limpwrist all the way.

Even my wife won't drive an auto car because they are so Grimace.
