Power Steering Add In

Post by lowndsie »

Just got a power steering complete unit from the wreckers. My Fez has never had any fitted and i was wondering if there was anything in particular that i had to be careful of?

If anyone has done this before i would appreciate and tips...

IIRC Leon converted his over himself- don't know if he's still around, perhaps try the Toyota forums?

Have you got everything you need? Pump, mount bracket, steering box, piping etc?

There are some airlines that run into the pump and bypass the throttle body (IIRC?) to increase the engine revs at idle to compensate for the extra load. Check the pulley is done up tightly on the front of the pump too, I had mine work it's way loose and it did some damage.

Don't know how you guys do things out west but in the big smoke we keep that sort of thing away from mechanical work... could get caught somewhere or something.... :finger: :finger: :finger:

The cost on the day was $150 bucks but i was quoted $250.00 over the phone so i'm not sure why the price reduction when i turned up. Most other wreckers wanted 350 or around there. Got a belt from peps for bugger all and all i need now is the pulley.

Just trying to get mine back on the road now and then i'll think bout installing the unit.....will post how it goes.
