Engine options for YN65 hilux

Post by bdollo »

hey guys...

i have an 84 lux single cab with a 3y nearing 300,000kms. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on different types of engines i could put in. i would prefer to go to turbo diesel, something like the turbo 2.4d?

also i have an annoying brake shudder that makes the whole car bounce at 40ks any ideas? :?

Thanks

What is the shudder?? Is it when you put your foot on the peddal?? If so you may just need the discs machined and some new pads.

I put a commodore v6 in mine and it hauled.

I also got a bad brake shudder from putting badly scalloped muddies off the rear on the front of my ute. Couldn't find a brake problem, then someone told me it was the tyres. Other possibilities are warped disc/s or flogged out wheel bearings. Good luck

hey guys... the shudder doesnt come through the pedal it just makes the whole car bounce like its going over corrugations or something, but it only happens at average brake pressure and at 40ks. if i dont use the brakes or brake with force it doesnt happen??? wierd!!!

i have got new pads on the front and also new Kuhmo muddies all round.

Thanks again

Sounds much like my tyre problem. Are you springs very light? Perhaps axle torque under braking? I think you would feel pedal feedback if it were the brakes. I would be investigating your suspension etc.

mate i had the same prob with a shuddering, mine didnt pulsate throu the pedal either and only at moderate braking, after a few tests and sheer anoyance i finaly got my front discs machined and that fixed it, best $30 bucks ive spent.
