Steering Stabilisers

What sort of steering stabilisers do people recommend? I'll be going to Wandin and hopefully pick up a good bargain.
Will i notice any difference between an expensive one or an average one?
Are the return to centre ones worthwhile getting?

Speak to Mal Leslie @ SG Leslie and son on 9459 2859 tell him what type of steering, tyres rim offset, and he will make one for you.

But dont call if you are putting up front cost in front of value for money, or you will end up with what you deserve with a "bargain"

i've read a few reviews saying the the tuff dog stabiliser is good but they havent been long term tests. a mate of mine has a rancho stabiliser on his disco and never complains. :D

RTC Stabalizer

I have a Return to Center Steering Stabalizer fitted to my bundera. Easy to set up and fit and works great. I had a problem with the steering wheel not returning to the center and I fitted one of these and have never had a problem since.

Mine is made by 4-Way Suspension (located in sydney I think) and I got it for $150inc GST

Seems to dampen well...

I got a Return to centre one also. Had the same problem of the wheel not coming back.
Works great and after almost a year is still working. Not as tight or stiff as when first got it...only due to spring settling in, but still comes back for me.

Plus it is kinda pretty :lol: well it is yellow...with a blue spring :D :finger:
Don't let you mind wander...it is too little to be out there by itself.

I havea return to centre tough dog one too, have had it for 6 years and it is awesome, used to get some serious torque steer with front lockright (if i gave it a bootfull) with RTC there is none. only prob i have had with mine is a little surface rust on the piston rod (only on the part that does not fully slide in on my setup)

steering stabalisers are overrated - IMHO get a weaker one than a beefy one that will only mask gawd knows what alignment problems....
I have a Rancho RS5000 - and I think it's too resistent - think I'll return to a stocker type next time....

Hey Robbie, get the alighnment of the front wheels checked (what size are your tyres anyway?) and if that doesn't fix it then get a self centering steering stabalizer like I have done (completly fixxxed the same problem on my bundy)

aye nick

tyres are 31x10.5, wheel alignment seems ok tho..

When I get new tyres, I will check the alignment and put the RTC stabiliser I think.

Dude you just said you don't have a RTC dampner, and that you were gonna get one with your new tyres, so how could a non existant dampner be rooted :?:

dont they come standard on the 4b?

i thought the aftermarket ones just changed over with whatever was already there - and its more heavy duty..

Well robbie i had the same problem, I check the alignment, steering box ect and nothing was out of kilter...(i am also running 31x10.5)

actually you should get your steering box checked, could be that.

Anyway I couldn't work it out so i fitted a self centering stab and fixed it all, I will never go back!!

mind you the spring on the stabalizer rubs slightly on a crossmember or something (cant remember exactly what...), (as the other nick would say) nothing a grinder wont fix!! (i just left it rubbing sorts itself out after a month or so)

If everything is ok just get one, you wont dissapointed. :D
