now it depends on how you classify 'air locker'. If you have a cable operatred locker, all it needs is a small cylinder to operate the lever, and voila an air locker .
But yeah, everybody buys ARB lockers so they can't be too bad
Jacmac make a locker (air or vaccum) for Landrover, Toyota and some others, and probably have the best and strongest design. But according to Bill (daddylonglegs) ther design changes a bit so parts backup for older designs may not be 100%
Maxi-Drive make great vaccum lockers for Land Rovers and Range Rovers that are strong and 100% reliable. Mine has been 100% reliable and have never known one to fail (although have heard of one case of the vacuum lines melting because the installer (owner) ran them too close to the exhaust).
ARB make the widest range of air operated lockers and while they appear strong and reasonable reliable IMHO are nowhere near as good in design and construction as the other 2. IMHO the bad points of the ARB (compared to the other 2 are:
(1) The locker doesn't tell you when it is engaged, only when the switch is on (for the other two the "locker engaged light only lights up on 100% engagement").
(2) The locker doesn't have a detent to keep it engaged if it looses air pressure
(3) Many people have had problems with air leaks from the o-ring seals
(4) Plastic components - see post by Sam (Strangerover) on ARB's.
So all nissan owners are stuck with the worst air locker.
Im going McNamara, when i get the $$$$$. They wont void the waranty if you use your own air system to switch it. As far as price goes the McNamara's are a touch cheaper. For a Hilux anyway.
