Patrol Door Hinge Pins/bushings
I have a 1999 LWB Turbo Diesel Patrol. Probably Japanese Spec since I live in Antigua West Indies most cars are from Japan. What I am wondering is how you changed the door bushings without destroying the door pin. It looks like the only way to remove the pin is to drill it out. If any has info on how to remove these pins nondestructively please let me know.

Yep the brass bushings. I was afraid that I would have to destroy them to replace them. Why oh Why did they not put a simple clip on them. Like the Sentras have. Only problem with working on them is I have to remove them from the shell and that introduces the loss of sealing around the hinge. This is a very silly flaw in the design.

Am I right that you are doing this because the door is making a clicking noise when opened?
That is what my drivers-side is doing and its because the pin or striker is worn. I have not figured out the best way to fix this - if anyone else has done it please let us know. Also, can it be fixed so it will not happen again?

I have tried puching the pin further around with no luck, was thinking of grinding a groove in it and try a flat blade screwdriver for turn it.

Here is what I did. Since I got sick of the doors dropping when I opened them and being hard to close. I went to the hardware store bought 8 stainless washers. Stainless washers tend to be much thinner than the standard ones. I loosened the top hinge and removed the nuts on the bottom hinge. Useing my knee lifted the door enough to slide a washer onto each stud. Remember to get a washer at least 1 size larger diameter than the stud since they flare out at the bottom to give more surface area to the contact point of the hinge. I now have perfectly opening and closing doors. Until they wear out some more.

So oh wise one....is it normal to change the pins or just the complete hinges?? For my drivers side not only clunks but has drop a fair bit??? The pin replacement sounds like effort and most importantly - timely...so hinges??? What you reckon?

We tried getting the pin out of mine when they sagged, it was easier and cheaper to just replace the whole hinge. My bigger door hinge had snapped. :(
