Parts for Headlight harness

Hey Folks,
Last weekend fixing a fault with the spotties on my 4Runner, I discovered just how pathetic the headlight wiring on this thing is. So as a result I'm looking at building a replacement High-Current harness for the headlights.

The Question - Does anyone make a male version of the three wire U-shaped headlight plug - or do I have to do it with three male spade lugs. I'd prefer to use a male of the headlight plug so that once its complete I can just push it on rather than having to mess around in a confined space to fit the individual spade lugs in the correct sockets.

These are neg switching headlights and can do weird stuff when fitting headlight relays ect....

pihrana also make a kit with everythin u need...sell heaps at work..coems with DIY instructions etc

but i guess it would b cheaper to maek yaself one??

can solder male lugs onto the female connectors of standard h4 connector. just remove from plastic housing, cut with sidecutters male lug to suit, push into fitting and then solder. do all three then reassemble and now you have male h4 connector.

as you need lots of heat and lots of solder, this does work better before you have wire on end of female lug. otherwise insulation gets bit melted if not careful

Thanks guys, I Was hoping for a commercially produced one, not to worry, I'll use plan B - purchase 3*headlight plugs, use one as a pickup for voltages by inserting some solid between the factory one and my pickup socket. Using these voltages I'll fire some relays and feed this back to the headlights via some decent sized cable. VOILA!! headlights as they were intended.

this is probably best option. just make sure you grab ones with decent wire on the ends, then simply solder and heatshrink your loom onto this

btw, if you make your loom so it has h4 connector to plug into one side existing headlight connector for all your sense wires, you effectively have new loom for lights, but backup loom that can very easily and quickly put back into service if required
