Difference between Patrol & Maverick

Post by CB0569 »

Just about bought a 4.2 Maverick LWB 5 speed on duel fuel.Apart from that terrible F symbol (which will be removed as soon as i get it home) is there any differences eg diff ratios and L.S.D. etc etc.
It has got 336000kms on it and its only $5500 with 12mths rego.

Both GQs and Mavericks come with a range of diff options, 3.9, 4.1, 4.3 I think are the only stock ones (maybe a rare 4.6?)

This isn't really a difference between the GQ and Maverick, it's just a difference between different cars with either badge. You need to check the plate in the engine bay, just PM Bogged on this forum and he'll explain how to tell them apart!

yeah.... I have one now.

Having said that this is a top of the line XLT and you can get the same options on a Ti Nissan.

The specs are not identical, and the Maverick has two spec levels and the Nissan has 3.

It can get pretty confusing... some of it is the modle spec and some of it is based on the year, the options or whatever parts nissan had spare at the time....

Ford XL = Cross between Nissan Pov pack and ST
Ford XLT = Nissan TI

Most XL petrol/diesels have 3.9 ratio diffs, most GQ pov pack/ST's have 4.1 ratio diffs.

Slightly different trim levels in the fords. XLT sunroof is plastic and tends to leak.

Ford tray back is leaf sprung only.

All ford SWB/LWB wagons are 4 wheel disc (I think), GQ pov packs before 1991 are drum rear.

4.3 ratio = Nissan Patrol with the RB30 (3L petrol) motor
4.6 ratio = Nissan Patrol with the 2.8 Diesel motor.

Stand to be corrected.

Cheers

Diffratios are on engine comp plate under trans. last 2 digits is fitted ratio ie. 39 = 3.9 41 = 4.1.

Mavs with 30" tyres normally 3.9s and autos. 31" normally 4.1s.
Just check plate. Speedo gears available to correct odo and speedo.

Still a Nissan in every way only has Ford badges. I
f your throwing badges away thow them over here. :P
