How much would a set of GQ diffs set me back
I am considering using some GQ diffs for a project that I'm just starting.
Like everyone else, I would love to use GU diffs but given that they will need to be retubed to move the CW&P to the passenger side and the cost of that and building new brackets means that the cost just gets out of hand.
So, what a set of F&R GQ diffs (disk to disk on both ends) worth these days?

I'm not very good looking, so I guess I better be useful . . .
I'm interested in following the build, as I have plans to do the same with a GQ or GU diff, but it's quite a while away yet. FYI, you might be interested in how I think it can be done with less fuss:
Rather than try and completely re-work a GQ/GU front axle, my idea would be a hybrid of a GQ (or GU) front and an MQ rear. The key is that the MQ H233 rear is offset to the right/driver's side. If you remove the gear carrier and axles/brakes, the bare housing you're left with, turned around facing the other direction, becomes the basis for a left/passenger-offset housing, which you will then couple with all but the housing portion of a GQ axle.
Cut off the axle/brake-mounting flanges off the end of the MQ housing.
Measure the GQ donor's width so you know the distances between the ends of the inner axle shafts and the center of the gear carrier, then remove the axles and chop the GQ donor as far inboard of the swivel hubs as possible before the point where it widens to accept the gear carrier so you have as much to work with as possible later.
Install the GQ gear carrier into the MQ housing, should be little to no work, perhaps relocating a couple of studs. Now that you have the gear carrier in place, the critical part is next. You'll need to cut the ends of the MQ tubes and/or what's left of the GQ tube attached to the swivel hubs so that when they are joined, the distances from the center of the gear carrier to the ends of the inner shafts is identical to the original GQ, otherwise you cannot use the original GQ shafts.
Once that's out of the way, you just have to orient the knuckles for proper caster and weld the tube sections together.
Of course it's not quite that simple, other smaller details, but that's how envision it.

Gu diffs
My mate is selling some GU diffs front and rear with standard ratios in them but they also come with a brand new set of 4.88's still in the box I think he is only after $4000 for the lot that would be an aswome buy is you had the cash as the ratios are worth $1000 or more :>
