just interested to see what everyone thinks works best with 32x10.5 on 8in rims

i was running 32x10.5 mongrels (before i pulled my zook apart :cry:

). NT S3 and rear locker. I found they worked well at about 8psi.

Tyre pressure will vary dramatically depending on what type of tyre you are running and terrain you are driving. So maybe thats worth adding to your question.

On my old Vit with Motorway MT's i used to run 10lb with all the unnecessary crap i used to carry with me.

Hoping to go way less with the sierra on beadlocks :twisted:

chose them cause theyre cheap + soft compound iget them for 60 bucks atyre

ive been playin with pressure a bit they dont seem to bag down real well till about 5psi

not so much stiff as car is light aretread should nearly flex as well as a clean skin remoulds usually are quite stiff used to be a tyre fitter for about 8 yrs but that doesnt mean i know everthing

how does this stuff effect tyre pressure :?:

type of tyre and weight of truck will have more effect on pressure than lockers and gear reduction.

30 inch muds @ 10psi on my 2 door vit was too low for Mt Walker - rims have a few small dents :(

just thought id put forward the whole pakage youre probly more likely to roll one off with a front locker due to xtra front end push and gearing was to let you know that im not launching over everthing

bigsteve, did you run this on beadlocked wheels? and i assume it was on a sierra.

i have a vit that weighs 1080kg (full tank no driver or equipment) and 15psi was lowest i've been, still didn't bag as well. do you think i can run lower with out bead locks? i have 31x10.5 on 15x8 wheels.

I only ever popped one bead, it was probably way below 8psi

I really hated my MTRs until I ran them at 8.

My old tin top would have easily been 1080 kg Heavy front and rear bars with heaps of gear in the back. Try yours at 10psi then work your way down til you pop a bead, then come back a touch.

you can run zero pressure without beadlocks if you want , if yor tyres stay on your rims is another matter :finger:

alot of poeple in zooks run under 10psi with no beadlocks no problems , but it depends on your driving style as well .

The retread MT's need to be softened by road driving at low pressures for a while. Just be careful when you're doing this becuase your car will drive like crap.

Then as steve said when you're offroad just keep dropping them bit by bit until you pop a bead then put a little more air in.

Note: make sure you have a compressor on board.

i used to run my 31mtrs at 7psi 8"rims only eva lost one bead (got a pic in 4wd monthly

)

now run the 33's at 6-7 on 8's havent lost a bead yet

but they have rolled the bead back a little and let a bit of air out then sealed back up

I used to run my 32's on my Zuk at about 8 to 10 psi .. the claws I used to run down to basicaly nothin, without beadlocks bit they were mega stiff.. But I dont reckon that they were as stiff as the 33 swampers I had .. They would spin on the rims at anything below about 3psi

I heard all the stuff about "dont run below 15psi etc in the mags .. in a 2.5 tonne 4x4 thats fine @ 15 psi the BF;s on the partol are like jelly to drive on, but stick nicely to rocks"

The best idea is just suck it and see ... and carry spare air and a few ratchet straps to help reseat the bead if needed ..

I'm now running love_muds old mudders 31 x 10.5's
they are best between 8 and 12psi , and have not come off so far.
my last tyres (SAT' 700 x 16's) were stiff, and worked best around 8psi, but had run at 4psi occassionally.
My 235/75 Khumos werked best around 12 - 16psi.
It appears larger tyres (ie more air) can hold weight with less pressure, christover
