Road PSI...?
Hi
I was wondering what PSI you guys use on the road?
I have 32x11.5x15 MTRs and was told to run them at 36psi by the tyre guys.
I have tried 33psi and 30psi also.
How low would you have to go to cause wearing on the outside tread?
I think 30psi feels a little on the spongy side.

i run 35 x 12.5 x 15 on the road. drove badly with more than 22 in the front and 18 in the rear of my gq ute. estimate the surface area and compare that to standard and inflate accordingly as a rough guide.
eg you car weighs x and has x load on front and x load at back if your tyres are 15 % bigger foot print put in 15% less air.
use that as a starting point and keep checking them.
at a guess i recon 28 - 32
cheers bru

heres a tip. go buy a cheap CD player and install it. then drive any backstreet in the city and the best pressure the tyres should be is when the CD wont jump. well this is what i have to do.
at 25psi only the potholes will cause it to jump

Stops the edge lugs wearing down
Why would you want only the inside to wear ? Dont you want it wear evenly?
offroad, with low pressures, the edge lugs can wear very quickly especially on rocks. running high pressures on the road evens the wear out by transferring the weight primarily to the inner blocks. I always ran the tyres on the bundy at 45psi on the road and they still always wore out on the edge lugs from rock damage. I was trying the same theory on the 80 but I didn't get enough km on it to know whether it worked or not

takes about 20secs a tyre, pull out valve core, wait for it to change note as the air pisses out which is about 20 psi, give the tyre a kick, if it wobbles enough put the valve core back in, its that simple
