starter sometimes doesn't spin
on the hj45, the starter every couple of weeks just won't spin, i mean there is nothing when you turn the key... glow plugs still heat.... any suggestions... only happens once every couple of weeks, once i roll start it, it'l work fine for a few weeks
Spit my last breath
check the obvious things as suggested. I had a similar problem with mine - sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. After pulling it apart myself and checking i couldn't find anything wrong. After having an auto electrician rebuild it and again strip it down and check it the problem still occured sometimes. I think it depended on the position it stopped in. Sometimes rocking the car would move things enough for it to work. After getting really pissed off i ended up buying a new starter.

Hi
Inside the solenoid, there is 2 pickups that cost $8 each that transfer current to the starter motor after the solenoid has pulled them together and meshed the gears.
One of them is stuffed, change it and you will be away with a reco starter, all except for the black paint.
