Blue Plate for Turbo in 80 Series

Okay I will make some calls when I get the chance, but does anyone know if you do need to get a blueplate for a turbo in an 80 series. Some people tell me not required because 80 series came out standard with turbo, and that brakes etc are all the same so not required.

But, on the other hand some people are saying that as my vehicle did not leave the factory with a turbo and the compliance plate will not show that it is a turbo model and as such will need a Blue Plate for Turbo installation.

Oh yeah and I am in QLD Transport land.

Guy i know is a copper up your way, he has 3 blue plates, for suspension, long range tank, and recaro seats. He didnt need one for the factory turbo diesel he put in where the hz was, because it came std accross the model, but fitting aftermarket means no ADR compliance, and blue plate.

The rules are that...

If you fit AN OPTIONAL ENGINE for that model - then you don't need a mod plate as long as you upgrade brakes and suspension to the same as the vehicle with that engine.

However, If you fit a turbo to an NA engine, you need a mod plate since it is a modification to an NA diesel, not exactly the same as fitting the optional turbo diesel angine.

So when I changed my landie to a diesel from a petrol I didn't need a mod plate because it was an optional engine. However in the future when I do fit a turbo I will need a mod plate.

Since your cruiser came out with a factory TD it should be easy to get the mod plate - I doubt they would need a brake test or anything.
