GQ hard to get out of 4wd Low
Hi
When engaging 4wd low it works fine if I pop it out straight away.
As soon as I drive in low for a while it is really hard to get out.
Is this common?

this might sound stupid, but I have heard it can happen. Check the sizing of the front and rear tyres... actually measure em... because difference can allow transmission wind up to occur. Obviously this is only on high traction surfaces, but may be a reason??????EricB wrote:Hi

Do happen to have any Transmission X member spaces in ????
These things put your transfercase on a downward pointing angle and can make getting the thing out of low range real hard, also gear changes 2,4,R can feel really jaring ?? Trust me I know
. In addition to this it also points your front driveshaft uni upwards and makes the front shaft vibrate.....slowly killing it....
I think these things are the devil
If you have these in then that is your problem.. take em out and look at other solutions... If not just ignore what I am saying...

Yes I do have about 20mm spacers on the x member.
If I took them out what would be the best way to stop the tail shaft vibration?
Would longer rear trailing arms help if they rotate the diff a little?
PS. my 1st gear is a little hard to get in.

if it jams with the spacers in it must be hitting on something climb under and check it out or a linkage is jaming on something or going over center just a thought

Perhaps worn body mounts cause some 'shifting' as it'll engage for a few secs as youhavent done any extreme climbing.. and after the extreme part.. your body mounts may have shifted causing the stick to be jammed perhaps??
Have you checked ya body mounts?? Does your car make a lot of noises like creaking etc?

It does creak a little. I though it was the suspension.
Might be worth a look at the mounts too
