Ok, just say no one on here owned a feroza. Now that that's clear, do u really think that Feza's can be driven hard? I mean do u really think (from an outsider's view) that they have what it takes to tackle more than average obstacles?

I guess what my pissed mind is trying to say is, how hard do u push a fez without stuffing it?

From my POV it could be made a reasonably capable machine but would hit the proverbial 'wall' of reasonable modification so much earlier than other more generic trucks.

I didn't want to destroy a nice rig so I bought a cheap old zook. Now I just hit stuff It's great

You have to be realistic.. They are a great small IFS 4wd, but without modifications your abilities are limited. For the $ spent on buying a stock second hand feroza you could have a very capable zook up for competition use. Depending on what you rate as hard Jas, you must be feeling the need to advance to even harder objects i feel your pain Your fez is up for a shock.. Seeing as you can't crawl a feroza slow enough to get it through anything hard without breakage, the other way is usually to keep momentem over most things, thats when things start breaking, having to constantly throw it over steps to keep up with non IFS 4wds with bigger wheels. Thats what i found anyhow I got tired of it. I brought my feroza 4 years ago for 13k and i brought the diesel 80 series this year for 13k. I still wish i could get my hands on a feroza and do an SAS and SPOA hilux axles, lockers, t v6, exo and 35's and compete.

Think about what you want to do now, I think an SAS is calling you..

Let's get this straight from the outset, I'm no hard core, mud sprayin' scrub crushin', donk thrashin', wombat squashin', cliff hangin' four wheel nut! As such the Feroza suits me fine for the odd bush track but I'm liable to be conservative and pretty much don't drive through anything that I don't have to.

Plus the cost of Feroza can stifle your courage when it comes to tackling serious obsticles. A Feroza on it's side can pop all three rear windows... not something to look forward to paying off. An old manual winch under the driver seat for the times it's needed provides a little peace of mind.

In terms of modifications and 'thrashability', I think the sierra is always going to win these debates (braces for a flaming!) The last Zook I drove was dad's old 850cc, 2-stroke and the little mongrel was unstoppable. Mind you, I know which truck I'd prefer to drive along the highway for 8 hours.

When it comes to narrow bush tracks, passing other traffic, turning around dead ends, and 'winchability', you gotta love Fezs and Zooks.

Well this is about all the Ferozas were ever built for. Most of the people that have owned or still own one thats a member of this forum, sooner or later realise these limitations.
Because if you hang around here then it means your a 4x4 freak! And 4x4 freaks are always searching for more, more more!!!!!!!!!

thats very true rod... i got bitten by the mod bug to my roza 2 years ago.... ever since its been a never ending obession.... back in oregon, roza was able to handle everything i threw at it, and then some (with some help when i bottomed my frame against something from time to time), which suited me just fine. but after hitting the sand dunes and rocks down here in the desert, i've come to realize that i've hit the limit. how do i know that? roza's hurtin real bad now... having to figure out whats wrong and knowing that there are plenty of things wrong sure isnt a good feeling... so speaking of more, yes i will keep my roza, hopefully soon i'll buy a cheap, junk car and retire my truck, get her paid off, THEN work on gettin $$ saved up so i can give roza a heart transplant and some soild axles in the front..... i've seen the light and now i want to sas the s.o.b. she'll still be a hella fun rig to cruise in thats for sure. just give me a few years and it'll be done....

right then........ my turn. Feroza's, yes limited. BUT... still alot of fun in the right scenario. I reckon they are an excellent choice to get into 4wding. Awesome on the beach, and the easier tracks. I loved doing creek runs in mine, cause you'll fit in between the tight tunrs etc.

If you wheel with the right people, you will slowly get to the point of its limits, then you move on to a better off-road vehicle. Exactly what I did. We pushed that little red feroza to breaking point!!!

I wouldnt go SAS on a feroza. whats the point? sell it and buy a friggin hilux if that what your gonna do (no offence besty). You'll still get better, safer off-road ability.

4wding is a progression, where you stop progressing is up to you and your wallet. If you like to compete, then do it. Set a vehicle up to the comps you want, and do it. If its a weekend warrior, then dont think its a comp vehicle, your only gonna break it.

heath you forget.. i dont live in aussie... i'm here in the states, and with no regulations, i can make mine a weekend warrior/daily driver... which is what i really want to do, since just about every major brand 4x4 has been exploited... therefore i want something a bit more special... something different... i'm just like that. besides, i think taking something thats not very known and making it into something totally different, but yet still retains the looks of its orgins is alot of fun. atleast more fun than just buying aftermarket stuff and fitting them on, which is what alot of people do here... its an art mate.... and i intend to stretch it as far as possible.

I agree.. There is nothing better than seeing something unique and different in the 4wd industry, every one has seen a hilux/ 80/ zook heavily modified to gymnastic standards. Most hardcore rigs seem to be hybrids anyhow, they are probably the most interesting at any comp, customised and one of a kind, im just dying to see a hybrid fez down my way soon.

How far you will get a Feroza also depends allot of the driver as well. I have seen guys like Mark Hoult and Shane push their Feroza's into some pretty awesome areaa's that even a Hilux or Cruiser had trouble getting into. Still I think the thing that has ultimately killed the Feroza for most people was the lack of available after market gear and in some cases the lack of anything even spare parts. I will always though rate driver ability higher than having a monster truck for getting it where you want to go. Too often I have seen people with monster trucks who think a heavy right boot over wheel placement will get them where they want to go.

I took mine for going 2 weeks ago, and my Dad's 80 series got stuck b4 me....(very surprised), but once we got to a step I had no travel... The front left wheel was about 2 or 3 feet off the ground and she was just sitting there...!! Freaky feeling for a Fez. The tilt said I was 20deg. nose up and 20deg. right tilt...
Was awesome, eventually got up on my own too..!
