Rocky Exhaust
I got a price off of a company today, to get a 3" straight tru system made up, and it was around $600. Is this normal.
Last time I got one made it was for a subaru, and it was a 2 1/2" system with a sports muffler.
Also, 4WD Systems in west aus claim to have a lock-right available for rocky's, I can't get on to them, does anyone know if its true, or if anyone else sells the lokka lock-rights?
Cheers.

When i got the exhaust last done on my f75 turbo, it was $220 for a 2.5 inch setup with single low restiriction muffler. That was from the turbo back. Drove much better and sounded pretty cool too. Also gained a few psi of boost due to less restriction.

$600 with no mufflers (I take it that's what you mean by straight through?) is very dear. You'd want all mandrel bends and stainless pipe for that price.
BTW 4WD Systems is in Adelaide. www.4wdsystems.com.au

I took the weapon in for them to have a look at it today, the now reckon $450 for 3" Mandrell Straight Thru (No Mufflers), or $320 for a 2 1/2" Straight Thru. Also, they quoted $420 to make a custom stainless Snorkel.
I got on to 4WD Sys, and they say that Lock-Right never actually got round to producing a locker for the rocky.
Someone also told me that ARB might be able to make an air locker for it, would they?

There was a detroit made for rockys ages ago, but its gone these days, i think that Dave (bundyrumandcoke) has 2, but otherwise they are not to be found. To my knowledge there is no aftermarket lockers available, and no transfer gears ( gearing is averages when 31's are fitted!!!). THese are two of the main reasons i ended up with a zook as well as the rocky (which is still for sale )

Hey guys,
Offrotec in Germany makes lockers for various cars, including f20/f50 and rocky's. They got them electrical and vacuum operated and look very well engineered. Dunno what $$ it takes to ship them to Oz.

Cheers Ron,
Now all I have to do is figure out how to speak german so that i can understand their website. Apparently there is a guy here in aus that distributes them or something from what i could gather from the website.
Hopefully I can get on to somene about them and get some more info, as I definately would love one.

I called the distributor on Holland the other day, he told me that they made them custom fit to your application, see the drawings on their website, but they always had something on stock. Price was 1600 euros per axle when they fit them. DIY, they'll swap owner for 1100 euro's , which is about 2000Aus$, I guess??
My german is ok so if I can help you with something....
BTW, that fella you saw on their site is the distributor in Oz, so give him a call I would say..
You probably already found that "sperre" in german means locker

Hey lay80n,
just wonder is your Rocky a diesel or a petrol?
Coz i'm running 31inch and the crapy 3Y petrol engine and yes it's a run away train and i'm force to drive with the brakes everytime when i go down hill. That sucks. Plus i guess it doesnt help i'm running extractors and a straight flow exhaust.
Btw does anyone have any idea about exhaust brakes? Or know how they work? Coz i wonder if that helps. I guess.
Any idea what else can be done?
Would a diesel engine be a great move or it will still be a runaway train?
Talking about final drives i hope someone down under can verify if the final drive from the old F20(i belive someone in this fourm is willing to give them away) will fit on to our F70- F85 Rocky axle?
Coz i recall sometime back a fellow forumer who owns a LC 60series and a Toyota Scat claim that the axles are very similiar.
Imagine 5.2 from the F10 and a 4.8 from a F20.......
Spartacus,
i think the F10 to F60 is the 1st gen Rocky that around the size of a Suzuki.
The F70 to F85 will be the 2nd gen Rocky.
After that it is the Feroza.

My RIG sucks big time.
exhaust brakes are primarily for desiel engines. it works by having a butterfly valve in the exhaust pipe somewhere and when engaged, the butterfly valve closes and seals the exhaust completely, causing back preassure and thus forces the engine to slow down as it gets harder and harder for the engine to put out more exhuast. the concecpt has worked on petrol engines but is NOT a good idea since most petrol blocks wouldnt be able to handle the kind of backpressure needed in order for it to be effective. my dad's cummins turbo desiel truck has one and man i love the exhuast break on that thing. great way to smoke people if they annoy me.

From the service manuals, it seems that diff carriers from rocky's are the same as the f20/f50's etc. The old scat pickups have different axles than the swb models, I believe they're the same as the axles on a rocky pick up and have lower gearing and a slightly wider track. Dunno about that thing about Toyo 60 series axles, but it seems too good to be true!! finally a doorway to aftermarket stuff
