It is my understanding that yes, competitors must pay park entry fees.

Competitors DO have to pay normal park fees.

Which are $25 per day, plus $5 for camping. So, it should be about $55 for friday night through til sunday. I don't think they charge for friday night if you arrive after 6 or 7pm.

Unfortunately, the reigning champions, Team Oxenford Realty, pulled out this morning. As a lot of you are aware, Gary and Murray did considerable damage to Gary's ute at the 8-day winch challenge, and thay won't have it going. Other team members have also got car dramas, so they had to concede. It's a shame, these guys always put on a good show.

But, the event will go on reguardless. And Murray assures me that most of their team will be there anyway, to cheer on the remaining Gold Coast team!!

P.S - Bring some $'s for raffles too guys. We got some pretty cool stuff going.

Simon what is the tyre size limit? Andrew Girding came into work today and Borrowed the 42" tyres of the mog. Recons he is putting them on some army truck they bought! :shock:

Said it comes factory with equivilant size tyres but they were near bald.

Hmmm. Thanks Tony.

I will get on to Andrew. I can't allow 42's. If I do, then I would have to allow the MogRover, and similar vehicles because those tyres suit those diffs.

It's unfortunate, but I have to have a cut-off somewhere. I'm sure Andy will understand that, having organised the event himself last year.

I sort of Agrea on this however it is a stock vehicle and this is the stock tyre size. And it can be registered in QLD with this tyre.

This is a tough one.

I will have a chat with a few people first. Then make a decision. I mean, there is nothing to say that, that size of tyre would be an advantage or disadvantage anyway.

One other thing i was wondering. Is there any rules about vehicle mounted hyab cranes? Im pretty sure this thing has one and thought it would basicaly be classed as a Winch??

I don't technically have a rule about hyab cranes. I didn't really think the situation would come up!!
Probably not a lot I can do about it, I guess it is technically a vehicle mounted winch.

This is giving me a headache.

I have been informed that operators of vehicle mounted cranes must hold a crane licence. Anybody attatching anything to it must hold a doggers licence. And, while lifting, the vehicle must have it's solid feet out. So, I will need to look into this a little more.

Personally i think its a Joke, and it should not be allowed to run. But i am not involved in this event.

If i wanted to watch this type of vehicle i would go to a military history junk yard show, i want to see 4wd's tuff it out!

Yes it one thing to have it there on display and have a few demo's but thats it!

I personally can't see anything like whats described winning anyway!

Adrian the Logan Challenge is not your typical Driving event though. The team with the most capable vehicles has as much chance of winning as a team of stock vehicles.

Yes i have watched the event, just saying that I would not enjoy watching a 4WD event with something like that in it!

When i say it won't win, i really meen it would be no real advantage. Eg Last year they had to build a bridge out of logs, the team would have to send four of there cars across and then re-set it for this thing! :lol:

OK guys it's been fun but before I get hung drawn and quartered I had better settle things down. I have entered this competition three times and have won it twice. We intend to win again with or with out the mystery Mercedes. It always proves to be a great weekend of competition and I always love the fact that each team has no idea how well it is going until the results are read out. You could roll up with Thunderbird two and not win. What wins this event is being able to think on your feet, interpret rules well and work as a team. Thinking outside the square as Steve mentioned. The Mercedes doesn't exist. It was a sociological experiment to monitor the health of the rumour mill and I am happy to report that she is in excellent health. I am looking forward to a great weekend at what is a unique competition and looking forward to catching up with some old mates.

You would not believe the bloody headaches this phantom piece of sh*t has caused me in the last three days. I have been chasing info everywhere about whether it is classed as the same as a tractor, or bobcat etc.
