oil pressure on MQ's

Post by drive it »

my oil pressure on my MQ drops a bit at idle then once you are moving it sits just above the 3 mark when you are idleing i sits bout 3 ml below the 3 mark. i'v changed the oil and made no diffrence. it use to sit just above the 3 mark at idle. has any one hade oil pressure problems with MQ's
i think it may need thicker oil as when it is cold the oil presure at idle is fine.

Haha, your's is doing a sh!t load better than mine!

My L28 will just almost reach 3 when slightly over full on the dipstick and it's been working for a while. On idle it sits just above the 0. Never thought it was much chop, but I've given up putting too much care into the old engine. Sooner it blows up, the sooner I get started on a V8. I run the thickest oil I could reasonably find - that Shell stuff with "coating agents" for older engines I think. That helped a bit at the time, but she's nice and crap now.

I also run an L28 and have not long done the head long ago, and after seeing this thread this morn I checked more than usual

When idling when warm mine is just under 3 also and when running is half way between 3 and 6. 0X
