Axle wrap dilemna

Lookin to put my IFS springs in the rear this week, and was goin to take a leaf out, worried about axle wrap running the 35's and was wondering instead of a wrap bar, would upper control arms do the same job as I want to do a coil conversion when I get the money, and this would seem more logical than buying a wrap bar then scrapping it to put the control arms in later.

I was going to put some mazda springs last weekend and was told to use a control arm off the front of a coil sprung 4wd. Easy and solution to a wrap bar.

Yeah i have a axlewrap bar but a mate of mine will doing a springover on his 60 and he'll be using a control arm of a bundera

Mine lasted about 9 months without a wrap bar

I farked a set on one track on the first day out, so left it in after that.
you do get a little bit better up travel swapping the 2 lower springs around but a litte more wrap, OK with no blocks.

I know a wrap bar is the go, but what I'm asking would setting up two control arms do the same job as a wrap bar, or would it be inferior

i would say it would bind your suspension

it would probably be the worst of both worlds - it will bind a little bit, and won't significantlt reduce wrap. worst case would be it could actually increase wrap due to the bind, depending on the length and angle of your upper arms.

if you're going to do a 4/5 link conversion, do it. if you're going to stick with leafs (and there's nothing wrong with leaf suspension, it can be made to work very well), then an anti wrap bar of some description is really your only option to control wrap.

A ladder bar with a shackle is the only way to go if you still want lots of travel and no wrap,A single link relys on leafs to complete the trianglelation and a 4 link works the same way as a ladder bar.
and if your doing a coil conversion later just sell the track bar

superior engineering do one put in my car and no more wrap and still lots of travel he made the whole lot for 280.00 solved all my probs

Was going to get one of superior, between me and my mates, we've had a few snake racing bits break, my adjustable torque rod bent , and his adjustable lower control arm bent, and I like the one they make, was just seeing whether other idea would work, thanks for advice guys.

not on its own - you need to add a shackle and swivel to the chassis mounted end to allow sufficient degrees of freedom for the suspension to articulate. the arm on its own, mounted to the chassis, will bind.
