Repair/Service Manual, Late model 4.2TD Patrol ... ?

Post by RoldIT »

Does anyone have a lead on a non factory repair manual for GU 4.2TD patrols?

Gregory's and Haynes don't seem to produce one and am not interested in paying $375 for a factory Nissan one then adding another $129 for the 4.2TD suppliment.

Electronic copy would be great, I see the Nissan FAST system going around but am under the impression that is on a parts list.

Cheers.

That I understand but instead of buying 2 books, 1 GQ manual to cover the TD42 and 1 GU manual to cover body and drivetrain I was just hoping for something that did it all with a bit of factory turbo thrown into the mix.

It also help to have all the specs on torque settings, special tools and sizes, oil and filter specs, etc to refer back to when needed.

Tis a bit hard to jump on Outerlimits to ask a quick Q if you're stuck somewhere out in the bush. ;)

Try www.drysdaleautobooks.com.au

They have a manual "Nissan Patrol GU Diesel 2000-2002" for $60. You can purchase online and they mail it to you if you are lazy like me.

Thanks for that but that's the one I have already found but it only covers the 3.0TD, not the 4.2TD. I was trying to get away from the multiple manual purchase if possible.

Cheers. :D

Gregory's No512 Manual only covers GQ 4.2 Diesel 88 to 97. This is no good for GU 4.2 Diesel. GQ indirect injection - GU direct injection and a shit load of electronics.
They are similar but not the same!!!!

Bloke I Know has a 2001 model 4.2TD and it has direct injection. It has electronic gadgetry all over the shop as well.
He bought it new, I could only believe this is the norm across the GU range. Nissan have a Knack for changing things on models from 1 month to the next.
I have a November '92 Maverick 4.2 diesel and a mate has a June '92 Nissan 4.2 diesel and the weird thing is the air-con pump is on opposite sides to each other!!!!! Among other differences.

You have no choice, is it that much more of a hassle to have 2?
