first off what troubles will i run it to and can i put the 2.8 straight into a late 88-89 hilux duel cab

Most likely have to change the fuel tank to petrol as it'd be easier as u can then mount a fuel pump to it and other than that.. the wiring has to be redone.

what engine is in there now? if it is a 22R 4 cyl petrol then the 3L should bolt to the gearbox, nut sure about the engine mounts but think they might be the same too. ideally you need the entire glow system from the donor vehicle, and if there is no fuel return line you will need to install one. also need the fuel filter setup.

wiring is pretty simple on the diesel, you need to wire ignition +12v to the fuel shutoff solenoid, starter motor wiring is identical. glow system has many variations over the years and it's best to transplant the whole system, or you can jury rig a very simple pushbutton system.
